Thanks for a great write up! Can I ask, how did you attach the patches to the carpet? This is an idea Iāve had for my car, why not document your travels? But I wasnāt sure how to actually do this.
My plan is to keep my next car a decade or more. I used to be able to keep them that long & truly get my value out of them, but the last couple Iāve had have been quick turns. You wind up using, and paying for, only the most expensive part of a new vehicle then without getting a good lifespan...
Wow. I am so happy you walked away from this. God was definitely looking out for you! Prayers for the people in the other car for sure.
Itās odd how slow motion the dash cam makes everything look. But with the speeds involved youād have zero fault with zero time to react. I hope youāre...
I can certainly get liking a different truck. There isnāt a bad choice. But in this market it seems Toyota remains the default choice & holding value that well means a lot even if you do plan to keep it forever.
Keep us up to date on what you think of it! An F-150 was my all time favorite should not have sold vehicle. But they are awfully large for parking around the city. SO I bought a good sized city car which is too small, so now thinking a midsize may be the way to go.
As epic as all the comments are, does anybody actually know what would happen in a situation like this? Instant write offs? I know the dealer couldnāt sell as new now, would they be repaired & put on the used side?
Thanks Dave. I too think my F150 did what it needed to when I had it. Now my challenge is to find what will serve my purpose & life now. I need to get over to the dealer I think & finally check out a Taco in person.
Thanks James. That was my thing in selling the F150, didnāt need a 1/2 ton any longer. With a move to the city surely I could get by with a compact car? I can, but only if I donāt want to leave the city for any length of drive.
Any second guessing the downsize at all? An F150 was the best car Iāve ever owned & while I regret downsizing one size too small, a full size truck in the city I think might not be ideal. A midsize might be just right.

Aside from the full time AWD on the limited there are a few other things it looks like youād give up. HUD & power running boards. Limited has adaptive variable suspension option. Iād go limited myself, but Iām a ātick...
Good luck with it! Honestly shopping for insurance there sounds awful & I thought it was bad enough here. I wonāt disagree, Iām sure there are many eBay resellers at UPS every day not claiming business use. Itād suck though if insurance denied a claim & Iām sure they look for every piece of...
The trips to the UPS store are business use arenāt they, or is this just personal pickups? Which non-personal use typically has to be disclosed to your insurance company, at risk of them denying a claim of course if you donāt, though Iām not certain of the specifics there. Iām not sure how...
Got any good pics to share? Sounds like a great purchase for you! Though you mention a CX-5, your vehicle I notice is an F150. How does the Taco compare to that can I ask? A much loved (& shouldnāt have sold) F150 is still my gold standard for all other vehicle comparisons.
Not boring. Always interesting to read othersā thought processes & reasoning to see where their head is at. Might help narrow down a guyās own thoughts. Iām here & still havenāt decided on Taco vs. LC. Vs. 4R. Maybe GX? Or stick with Ford & go Ranger. So I hear ya for sure on jumping...
