I was looking at changing the unlock feature too, but from what I can tell you can only change the duration from locking it to unlocking it. Not the 2 seconds holding your hand to unlock all doors. Unless I'm misreading the functionality.
Think you could post some pictures of the warping/rubbing you're talking about? Trying to decide if I still want to go this route or get something else.
I don't have any direct experience with autos, but drawing from my experience in the aero industry, I would imagine that the ECUs are communicating via the CAN. That might be different busses, but I don't see how they wouldn't be talking to each other.
Mine is the same way, and I'm in the affected VINs for the TSB. No other issues with it otherwise though.
I was told to press harder on the brake pedal when shifting from P/R or R/D, and it somehow magically does alleviate the majority of the lurch that I usually get.
Either works the same (no extra features or anything) the upgraded version just has wider support for other vehicles. That being said, I did buy the evo.
Yep, it's a software issue that isn't exclusive to the Tacoma. So seeing as how it's been out for a while, I doubt there will ever be a fix (or at least anytime in the near future).
But but but my truck, it's in the range and I can feel every shift. The world is coming to an end! I have nothing else to worry about except my truck that may or may not break and if it does break, it will be fixed for free! What am I going to do?!
