Old man here too. Just want a few basic creature comforts. I did order that underhood insulation for the Tacoma as per the link I shared in a previous message. I also picked up some sound reading material from Amazon. My thoughts are to use both for the hood. Figure anything will be an...
Did you get regular sound deadening panels, those rubber ones with sticky backs? I was thinking on adding that as well, but still on the fence about it.
Normal, It's a ratty sounding 4 cylinder. Most of that is likely injector noises. I would say that @ over 15K miles on my engine now, it's noticeably quieter now. What I'd like, and what I want is for Toyota to give me a proper engine cover, and some under hood insulation. I feel that for $45k...
And we all know what they say about opinions... That said, you're spot on. I remember many years ago (when I lived back east) when one of the local news stations said were gonna get a monstrous amount of snow and everyone should go stock up on milk, bread and eggs. All the fools did. Like sheep...
I'm not as good as I once was at keeping my vehicles polished, but hey I live in Phoenix so not much in the way of rain or nasty weather. That said, I do generally speaking like a clean truck -- especially the interior. I do like the 303 stuff, but tried this recently and I like it. Can use it...
I guess I'd say I'm an old man now @ 56 with two grandchildren. That said, Id say that I definitely prefer luxury, a good ride, and quiet cabin. I've said in previous posts that I'm not floored with the quality of material of the indoor plastics on this truck, but aside from that -- overall...
Agreed. The dipstick seems to always show as overfilled. I just ignore it and dump in the exact amount. Still in the back of my mind I'm feeling as if I'm overfilled, but makes me nuts that they cannot get the markings right on the dipsticks.
Can certainly understand why you'd be upset. I don't think many of us here have experienced much in the way of errors or malfunctions like this, perhaps a few of us. Anyhow, if you hit up the google search engine, I'll bet you can find a way, as I just did out of curiosity, to get rid of that...
I'd once say that I had a very agressive driving style with a heavy right foot. Then I got older. Lately I'd say I'd have a light touch to the throttle, with non aggressive driving behavior. In reality since I (still working, unfortunately) work from home, I'm usually not in a hurry to get...
I think a lot of comments in this thread thus far are quite sound. And in fact per 24Canuck's comments your gear will depend on where you live, and where you want to off road. For example. I live in Arizona, and can pretty much Offroad anywhere for the most part. That said, after living here for...
Do you have any information as to how fast both the other driver, and yourself were traveling at the time of impact? Very curious. None the less, pre your comments -- you walked away. People have died from less of an impact, so I'd consider this a very fortunate experience despite the crash...
Have to say I like your write up. Generally speaking as an older person who once was always tuning his vehicles back in the day, shy away from this stuff much these days. But I like how you're going at length to protect the stock ECU, leaving it unlocked for factory access.
I will mention back...
Not that this may be applicable, however one of my previous SxS's was a Honda Talon 1000R. I purchased new Eibach springs for it and had someone replace them, however I later discovered that hey installed the springs completely incorrectly. During the timeframe that they were installed...
If you search back a few months in the forum, I documented some debris in the oil on the first few changes or so w/pics. I was pretty anal about changing the oil, and now my truck just rolled 14K, oil has been changed 6 times. Yea, that's a bit overkill but to me 1) oil is cheap, engines are not...
Nope. Not here. Mine sits for 2-3 days sometimes, I also installed one of those things that is to keep critters away under the hood tapped directly into the battery. Even with that thing on it's not dead. Either your battery is bad, or you a faulty electronic device making a heavy draw.
Personally I feel this truck is "twitchy" on its own without out the lift if you ask me. I guess I've been driving traditional hydraulic steering for a number of years, and while Toyota is doing a great job of emulating hydraulic steering, I can tell this thing is electronic. To me, a just a...
Not to be a downer, but do you really want to be sleeping near a large volume of raw fuel? Just an observation. On a related note, I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually develops an auxiliary tank which properly mounts within the frame.
As a FYI, I've used and would recommend rotopax...
