I kind of doubt that it is the driveshaft. I think axle wrap is still a possibility - maybe it is a heritage feature, because Tacomas have always done that. lol My second gen didn't do it on every stop but when it was at its worst it felt like the vehicle behind me had hit my bumper.
If you can...
@fitsofrage88 Obviously it is not the hybrid system in your truck. When my transmission downshifts at the right time it is smooth, but sometimes there is a delay and then a thud. I think it is caused by a sticky shift solenoid not responding immediately.
I am not an automotive engineer, but...
I also wondered if it could be a delayed downshift after you stop. My truck sometimes does clunky shifts into and out of 1st and 2nd.
Do you have a hybrid @fitsofrage88? Even if it is a hybrid I don't think it is the cause, because by the time I come to a stop the engine is off and there is...
I asked because that sounds like axle wrap, but that is just on trucks with leaf springs. My 2nd gen had a bad habit of doing that.
I have seen other people describe the same thing in 4th gens but I don't remember seeing any answers. Hopefully someone else has seen this and maybe even has a...
I did check exactly what the owner's manual says about oil viscosity. It says that if 0W-20 is not available 5W-20 may be used, but must be replaced with 0W-20 at the next oil change.
So 5W-30 is not technically allowed, although I don't know how Toyota would know unless they did an oil...
Yep - same here. Oil viscosity and brand preferences are kind of a cult that I see in almost every automotive engine discussion I have ever been in. I picked Mobile 1 when there were fewer options available, and I just stick with it because that is what I have always used.
And that cold floor...
I assume that might be due to either emissions or fuel mileage. The lower viscosity oil flows better when the engine is cold and might be spec'd to comply with US regs. I ran 0w20 synthetic in my Tundra for years and never had a problem, although it had 3,500 mile change intervals. The 5w30...
@MustardTiger I always liked Magnetic Grey too. But it has been around for a long time and I kind of doubt that it will return. Underground is similar, and I like them both, but wanted Magnetic Grey on my last Tundra but couldn't find one.
I hope that is how this turns out.You are right and the analysis was just might happen if they take effect. The US has made demands on Mexico in the past about the border and had some success.
I am a contractor who writes software, some of it for the auto industry and contractors are the first...
I just read a more detailed analysis of what tariffs would mean to the auto industry. Honda has already announced that it would mean price increases on many models and all of the industry watchers predict large price increases for many major automakers. So these industry watchers seem to think...
Yeah - and build and ship them before January 20th. lol
I did read a more detailed analysis about this today and it specifically said that this would massively disrupt the US auto market. Lots of products marketed and sold as made in North America come from Mexico. It also said that the tariff...
@Jimbo662 I think that is good news. Now your dealer can swap out whatever is broken and get it working again. All first year vehicles should probably come with one of those as standard equipment.
Good luck.
