@Ray T Yeah - I had a 2011 Limited with some nice upgrades including the Off-Road package. Loved that truck but thought I should get something newer that I could count on. lol
Good luck pushing it with corporate. I talked to a brand engagement clown who did absolutely nothing for me. But you...
That is perfect. I couldn't agree more about what Toyota should be doing for buyers who lost the transmission lottery.
I no longer know if I even expect them to do anything more than just drive it and keep your fingers crossed. I don't even know if they give a damn at this point. If you had...
@Ray T - I also have a long string of Toyota trucks and cars in my history, and until now I have trusted them completely. But at this point that trust is getting pretty thin.
Like you I paid a lot of money for my truck and never felt it was a mistake because I have always been able to count on...
I agree and it is the same as the Tundra V6 engine mess, which is ongoing. I have also been told that the debris can never really be completely removed from the torque converter, even if the whole system is flushed.
That describes my truck. It started out shifting perfectly. By 500 miles it had developed pretty much all of the problems - hard shifts into 2nd gear, rumbling when downshifting into 1st, super hard shifts into reverse and low fuel mileage. After a couple hundred miles of that fun it went back...
A great combination. Love the white and there is a reason why that was all they showed when the Pros were introduced. I find the red interior interesting, but overall I find living with the black interior a lot easier.
I agree and it is strange for there to be a link between transmission issues and mpg, but multiple people with failed transmissions have reported lower than normal mileage.
One thought is that one of the TSB solenoid codes is for the torque converter lockup. If it does not always lock the...
I don't think that you are doing anything wrong @B-52 Gunner. My truck is the same way and my top trip mileage so far is 19.4, with an average of just 17.2 mpg. Some other people report hybrids getting the stated mileage, but mine has never gotten anything close and my dealer has no explanation...
@Mclovinmytrailhunter I would drive it some more and see what it does. If you can't reproduce that for your dealer the chances of any fix are small from my experience.
This sounds like a hybrid system problem to me and my truck never does anything like that. It drove fine for 500 miles, than...
Yeah - the hood insulation is way too expensive and should have been on every trim. It is common on most quality cars/trucks so I don't think it is a cop out, but just Toyota cutting costs without regard for vehicle quality. It would do a lot more to stop the noise than a plastic engine cover...
My dealer would not send me those screenshots because they said they had no trust in them to be correct. That says a lot about Toyota's distribution system to me.
It doesn't sound like this was a transmission failure @Taco Azul, but it does sound like another serious failure that Toyota needs to figure out. I hope you get through your trip and back home again without any more problems.
I think that all of us with trucks in the TSB VIN range will always...
I agree about those corporate help lines - they are there mostly to make you feel better, not to really solve problems.
This seems really strange to me. Toyota obviously realizes that the original air intake was not a good design because they made a running change to that part. They should have...
Your are welcome. That is what I usually do too. I see what the mild scratch remover will do and then only use the more aggressive one when I absolutely have to. I'm glad it worked well for you.
@EastonTaco A couple of other points on engine noise. I don't remember if Sports have a hood insulation blanket or not. If not, adding one makes a big difference. I think turning off the fake engine sound and noise cancelling would also make injector noise more noticeable.
You read it correctly. You can run it either way and unless the road is super rough you still won't notice much difference.
The unlocked position activates the shocks in the seats and is meant primarily for off road use, but there is no reason I can see to not leave them unlocked all of the time.
I vote for fuel injectors. The injectors in Toyota engines have always been noisy and this engine has two systems for twice the noise. That is totally normal and you will get used to it.
In all my Toyota trucks I had the seat belt rattle, but only when the belt was twisted and the metal part of the latch rested against the plastic trim. Last week my wife left it that way and I had the rattle. I turned it around and the rattle is gone. That may be all that you need to do.
