1,000 miles on my TRD Pro and my average has slowly climbed to 17.4 mpg after resetting it at around 600 miles. My best highway run so far was 19.1. I'm not sure how some people get so much better mileage because I am not driving really fast (Virginia!) or accelerating hard.

Not to be Mr Doom and Gloom, but the first 2024 LC transmission failure has just been reported by a credible source. Makes sense - it is the same transmission Tacomas have, but this is the first one that I have seen.

I had an 1986, a 1988 supercharger and a 1993. I miss all three of them!

At least one replacement failed for a forum user. He posted for a while and then had to stop because I think Toyota offered him a buyout. That was a while ago, so the replacement could have been in the TSB range too, but it is not a confidence builder.

It seems real to me, and seems to prove what a lot of us think, which is that the problem is not under control. Toyota needs to get ahead of this or just leave the truck market. This approach is not going to cut it.

To be honest I wouldn't buy one at any price at this point. Transmissions are still failing in trucks made recently and not covered by the TSB, so this is still unfolding. It would have to be a really large discount for me to even consider buying any Tacoma with an automatic. Maybe 10-20%...

It took me two weeks to notice that although they put wheel locks on my truck they didn't give me the key. They can't replace the key, so next Monday my truck goes to the dealer where they will remove the existing lock lug and replace it with one that has a key. I know that is off topic, but...
