  1. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

Gotchs! Im happy to help out where I can, and you’ve gotten past my initial excitement, thanks for that. the Audison APK690 set is decent, I just warn you about bass response with them, the motor is kinda
. ehhh. But, since you’re using the factory amp, you could add the AP 2 me to the...
  2. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

Good question. From my research, I’ve not measured it myself, the door in the Tacoma plays from around 50Hz to around 1000Hz. The dash speakers play from around 1000Hz to around 3000Hz and the tweeters in the pillars play up from there. Those are REALLY rough guesses based on some testing I...

  5. 33k miles tuned Tacoma review

Didn’t even take a full page to hijack a great thread into an OCI/viscosity thread.
  6. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

No problem, sometimes my exuberance gets the best of me. I also usually assume everyone is going for the same level of care that I do, not that you aren’t, but I’ll admit I’m pretty anal about my installs. That’s why, over the years, I’ve learned how to do most of it myself. I kinda suck at...
  7. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

Infinity’s are fine speakers, well regarded in car audio communities. They have a hard dome or metal tweeeter, so you get a more “exciting” or “engaging” sound. If you like them, awesome, I’m very happy for you. You may want to consider the JBL “Club” line, as it comes in 3 Ω impedance...
  8. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

Okay, 3-parter. 1 - Nope, 2 Ω would be fine. 2.3 is nominal, but loud/heavy passages, impedance fluctuates. You’d be fine with 2 Ω. 2 - If you can live with a change in sound, and there WILL be one, I will NEVER discourage anyone from a positive change. I just hate the snake-oil companies...
  9. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

Agree 100% with @gmalkmus , just changing speakers is a band-aid on a gaping wound. You “might” like the sound, or you could very well not. I’m gong to drop a little science on you, sorry. The JBL system in the truck is 2.3 Ω, and most aftermarket speakers are 4 Ω. So, you’d need to adjust...
  10. What should I expect if I swap in coaxial speakers into the JBL front door?

As much as I love Crutchfield, sometimes
.. To answer your question, there WILL be a change in sound, only because the speaker changed. There are crossovers on all the speakers, which would negate the tweeter from playing in the front door.
  11. Accident with Rear End Damage

:crying: Gotta love the low speed/ high cost problem. Hope you’re okay OP.
  12. Sneak Peek: Real Carbon Fiber Interior Upgrades for the 4th Gen Tacoma

The ‘90s called. They want their trend back.
  13. You see things & say naw would never happen to me ... well

The sooner people realize “they” are the product, and what they own is marketing “them” to big business, the less surprising stuff like this will be.
  14. 2024 Limited Wheels finish are basically plastic hubcaps!!

The OP referred to the Limited glued-on fascia as hubcaps. I’m just reusing terminology. Personally, I refer to them as fascia.
  15. 2024 Limited Wheels finish are basically plastic hubcaps!!

You’re in good company. I believe the SR and SR5 wheels are also “hubcaps”.
  16. "Rock hit A/C Condenser"?

Ahhh crap! Sorry to get your hopes up.
  17. "Rock hit A/C Condenser"?

Have you turned off “Auto A/C” in the infotainment screen menus? If you haven’t, I’ll check mine, because I can’t remember where it is exactly.
  18. Who's had their 4th gen for a year now? What do you love/hate?

On my Sport at least, Toyota decided to put plugs in the weep holes along the bottom of the door. Pulling one or more should let the water drain, and you can decide to put them back or not. Look for a black rubber rectangle.
  19. Mods that make you cringe..

Drop it like it’s hawt! Or, “light it on fire and toss it in the dumpster.”
  20. Does your 2.4 make this rattling/knocking sound?

I read the thread title and thought “oh, just the DI on acceleration.” Nope. No sir, not normal. Let someone higher paid than some forum-goers diagnose that.
