Awesome Fuel Mileage (base trim model 2026 SR Extra Cab)

I've been pleasantly surprised with my fuel mileage. These are some recent trips, probably 75% of those trips are highway running 70 mph A/C on. I'm running 93 octane. That longer trip included some hills. The 24.1 miles you see more than once is my morning commute to work.

I would say that having the base trim model truck has a lot to do with the high MPG numbers.

I agree. It's probably lighter than most. I'm not typically hard on the throttle most of the time.

I averaged 26mpg from Albuquerque to Phoenix then again on the way back. About 2/3rds of the trip is fairly flat, the rest is mountains.

TRDOR premium non-hybrid with pretty much everything stock (tire size, no lift, etc.).

The trick was to go the speed limit instead of 85+. When I go 85+ I average around 18. It's pretty insane how much the milage drops when you hit ~80.

From what I can tell, the sweet spot for our trucks, at least mine, is about 60 mph. But that's not always practical for my commute. If it was, I could probably get those averages up even more.

Either way, assuming these meters are even kind of accurate, this fuel mileage blows all of my previous Tacos out of the water, and that includes three 2.7

A strong headwind can make big difference, for sure.

Was out west last summer and did a full tank at 90 mph. That dropped me to about 13mpg from my normal 22/23 on my 04 TRD OR.

Yeah, physics start to rare it's ugly head at some point. But hey, at least you got to where you needed to be quickly

I finally hit 31 this morning. Cool morning, upper 60s, so no need for A/C, cruise set at 68 for the highway portion.

The morning is easier to get the 30+. I leave very early for work so traffic is much lighter and it usually cool enough not to use the A/C.

Coming home traffic is much heavier, more stop and go and usually with the A/C on. Still though, 26-28 is very common. There's some construction traffic that sometimes hurts my average on the trip home. Hopefully when that's done traffic will flow better.

Those numbers are sweet! I don’t do a ton of highway miles, but I do some freeways here in town that are fairly free-flowing. I thought 24mpg on 91oct gas was good. Those are WOW!
