New TacoTunes behind seat Sub/Amp combo

Has anyone received the new Tacotunes sub and amp combo? Im on the preorder and anxiously awaiting shipment. Curious if anyone has received one yet and if so, first impressions? I can upload install photos whenever it shows up. Hopefully run some frequency response tests once its setup as well.

Id be interested in a write up and test article on it. Ive been eyeballing them for awhile. The package looks nice, but they don't give that many details on the hard parts in the kit. Especially when they use their own branded parts. I would be much more trusting of them if they used a known branded sub and amp.

They do have mostly positive reviews from buyers though for previous gens. But then again, the majority of the public also leave jbl Bluetooth speakers and beats headphones so I'm holding out till I can hear one of these rigs in person.

I looked up the components. The sub appears to be an image dynamics, and the amp I came across on walmarts website. I suspect the amp could fall short of expectations but time will tell. I should receive mine this week and can get everyone lots of pictures of the parts.

Received the kit this weekend. Grabbed some images for those curious. I'll get some more as I continue the installation. You can see it is an ID 10" sub, box has some stuff already which is nice. Its a bit hollow sounding so some deadener is a good idea. Tacotunes themselves has a video of them deadening the box on the back. I waited to receive mine to see how the tolerances were. I think my 1/4" thick block off plate where the JBL sub vent was might be too thick. With this installed you wont have any plastics covering the back. YOu can cut your oem plastic to give a finished look, or carpet a lot of it, which is my plan. Id rather not cut OEM plastics, and a thick carpet finish over the deadener will improve acoustics while were at it. As of now Im waiting for the seat spacers to arrive that are a required component of this sub install.

A few notes for those looking to do something similar:
1. Carista obd2 dongle with a subscription is needed to deactive ANC and the engine noise.
2. 4gauge wire fits but is a tight squeeze through the firewall opening provided.
3. This amp takes 8g wire max, a reducer is needed.

Couple days of testing. When it comes to podcasts or audio books, simply turn down the sub gain and get clear vocals and no boominess.

Tedious but managed to make the sub gain knob fit the center console switch blank.

Didn't like the unfinished look of the exposed metal, but wasn't ready to cut up the OEM plastics. Got some adhesive backed black carpet and I think it did the trick.

Nice - where did you get the adhesive carpet? Amazon?... That's a detail that will bug me when I start seeing it! (only have the truck 2 weeks, only flipped the seat backs once to look and stuff a blanket behind)

@Drifte One of the many directions I'm being pulled right now when it comes to overhauling the JBL setup. What sub/box to use? Couple of questions for you (for now), 1) any idea of box volume? Useful for those planning on replacing the sub. 2) the port (cover?) on the side, is that your 3d printing handiwork, or is that an actual port?

The port was included with the sub/box, but for some reason mine is red. I dont know what the tuning is on it, but they are active on social media so Im sure you could ask them. Allegedly a 12" sub version is in the works.
