Looks like the screws to hold on the fan to the shroud are smaller than the metal insert to prevent over tightening. I’m only posting this to call out Toyota after installing a new front end to a taco in a collision to only pull out the new oem fan shroud I installed! The Toyota fan shroud list price is $2000 piece of junk! An easy fix is to install washers or a bolt with a larger collar to go over the plastic.

Once the metal collar pulls through your fan shroud , your fan is gonna be rubbing on the radiator.

This has nothing to do with recalls or any safety related concern regarding new vehicles. This is likely human error using incorrect hardware after a collision repair. Toyota themselves has nothing to do with that. That is a concern for that specific body shop/dealer.

Those screws are oem came on the new fan shroud straight from the Toyota dealership. Could be one defective part but it won’t happen again on this truck

A brand new part will fail if installed incorrectly. They probably over torqued the screws and cracked the shroud. Given that after two full years no one has had a fan shroud issue, I'd suggest having your insurance company get the repair facility to fix it. Maybe even correctly this time. Some years ago I made the mistake of getting hired by a large dealership to supervise their body shop. I did that for five years. Very frustrating if you're someone who cares about the customer and having the job done right. The things I saw so called professional body techs do to vehicles would send shivers up your spine. And it's not just any particular shop or brand because literally due to chronic shortages of techs, when you piss them off they simply pick up the phone and five minutes later they'll have a job at another shop. Go over a repaired vehicle with a fine comb and refuse to accept it back it you find anything wrong. If you have a decent insurance company they will force the shop to do it to your satisfactory. If you have a poor insurance company, well, that's why you paid a few bucks less for your policy and got knock off Chinese parts or junkyard parts or it was sent to a crappy shop.

More than likely an aftermarket part. Toyota fan shrouds do not come with the hardware and the hardware listed is a hex bolt that has a washer on it.

With the amount of time the fans run on these things if the fan was rubbing on the radiator you'd hear it, I'm sure this is a limited very specific case.

Fan shroud comes with fan when you buy it. Has Toyota stamped into the part so probably an oem part.

I am talking about the hardware. It is likely just random hardware out of a hardware drawer. It isn't the OEM hardware. The one doing the repair likely needed hardware, it wasn't ordered and to do the repair they just went to a bin and pulled out a bolt that threaded in.

Even at my dealer, we keep drawers full of miscellaneous nuts and bolts for any odd jobs that might need one. Though for main replacement parts we typically always order the correct hardware at my dealer.

This is the correct hardware that should have been used for the fan shroud:
9011912314.webp

Part number is 90119-A0105

I would be going back to who repaired the truck and requesting that they install the correct hardware.

No it literally was the oem hardware maybe this is the first recorded record of it. They might have already fixed the issue with the hardware u are talking about. I could have got old stock

That’s for the fan shroud to mount on the radiator

Any replacement parts or hardware is in the system as a superseded part number(in a separate superseded tab) while the main listing always shows the factory original parts. This is factory original on all 2024 and up Tacomas.
