I just picked up my new 2025 OFP hybrid model. Left the dealership with no issues. Came down the interstate about 30 miles and got off and back into town traffic. Every time I accelerate from a dead stop I get an instant “thud” when I start to accelerate.

I immediately called and service checked my VIN and there are no outstanding TSBs for it.

literally has 74 miles on it. will this get better with mileage?

The thud is the traction motor starting the engine. Mine is fairly abrupt and has not changed in 20k miles.

Same feeling in 25 Camry (which are all hybrids). Feels like a fked motor mount, but it's obviously just the gas engine starting like StreeTaco said.

Same.
Switching to Sport, Tow or Eco seems to help. I've also adjusted my driving style to come off the line slower so when the IC does engage it's at a lower throttle.

So sport mode might help? It’s in normal right now. I’m up to 161 miles so I’m literally brand new to this setup

I find Sport a little smoother, I think it turns on the IC sooner when it's at lower RPM. Eco also reduces the throttle reaction and smoothes out the IC start.
I'm at 6k miles and it doesn't bother me anymore.
