Dumb question from a first time Tacoma owner. Bought a 2026 Tacoma SR5, base package with the 245/70/17" silver wheels & tires. I'm looking to upgrade & swap to a set of TRD take-offs wheels from another Tacoma or 4Runner. Found a set of 265/70/18" TRD wheels & tires from a 2026 4Runner TRD Off-road I-force. The specs I'm seeing on-line is that the wheel offset is a little different on the 4Runners vs. the Tacoma's, and AI is saying there could be some brake interference with my base SR5.

Anyone know if these wheels & tires will swap over without issue or interference? Thank you in advance very much!

The bolt pattern should be compatible, and I wouldn't be overly concerned about brake clearance since you're going from a 17-inch wheel to an 18-inch factory Toyota wheel. However, the 4Runner wheels have a different offset, which could affect clearance around the suspension and steering components.

The bigger concern might be the 265/70R18 tires. They're approximately 2.1 inches taller than your stock 245/70R17 tires, so rubbing at full steering lock or during suspension compression is possible.

I'd recommend verifying the actual wheel offset and doing a front-wheel test fit before purchasing. The wheels may bolt right on, but that doesn't necessarily mean the entire wheel-and-tire combination will clear without issues.

Looks like the offset is +55 on a 2026 4Runner TRD Off-road I-force.

They will fit and shouldn’t rub. I had 285/70r17 ATs on the +60 offset stock SR5 wheels and it didn’t rub. Now they’re on +35 wheels and still don’t rub.

For what it's worth,
The factory wheel / tire combo on the limited trim is 265/65R18 with a +55 offset.
The TRD upgrade wheel is +45 offset

+45 puts the tire basically flush with the standard wheel fenders (TH and PRO have wider fenders for the +20 factory wheels)

Pushing that to 275/65R18 lifts the truck about 0.51".

265/65R18 runs roughly a 31.5" diameter
275/65R18 runs roughly a 32" diameter

Sounds completely safe given the clearances they appear to have provided for up to 33" wheels.

IDK how tolerant the 4G is to tire diameter changes. A general rule of thumb is to stay within 3% of factory, but I know Owners will deviate from that without any obvious problems.

Changes to the speedo, shift points, drive ratio, ABS distances and sensing electronics can be affected.

The potential increased rolling mass of the new assemblies should also be considered.

Those with direct experience with 4G swaps will know better.

Edit,
