Anyone put in an aftermarket shift knob or boot assembly other than the 23 TRD pro?
Does the classic grey TRD Ball fit? or what other options have you all used?

thanks!

I used the trd knob and it’s been great. It lifts the knob height up about an inch and it makes shifting much better. The oem knob sat too low for my liking.

Do you mean the TRD Pro one? It looks ok to me, I’d just rather something weighted or a ball…

@TastefulTaco I can confirm that the gray TRD ball (PTR26-35060) fits like a glove

Also, ever since I saw this:

I had to get rid of the boot. Luckily, a simple zip tie after popping the center console out helps. Looks way better in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

That does look way better - what boot is that you used? And the ziptie under the boot is holding well? I’m guessing there is a ridge or something on the rod?
Thanks for the info

Nothing major, just one zip tie holding it. From factory there is one zip tie holding on the ring collar. I just cut it with a knife and slipped off the ring collar. Then you can invert the oem shift boot like this and zip tie it.

Added a Shiftsolutions solid titanium knob to mine, weighs about 350 grams. Huge improvement to shift feel!

This truck uses the same thread pattern as all the other Toyota MTs, you can put on whatever you like that works on other Toyota trucks/FJs.

I'm the odd duck here, I got the cheap rubbery knob stock that came with my SR, and I ordered a new OEM TRD OR/Sport knob for my truck. I don't like the way all the others look or how the boot interacts with them, so for me stock is best. I find once the leather wears in, the stock leather knob is super comfortable. The SR knob was fine to begin with but felt cheap.

Anywho, yes the TRD ball or anything else similar will work, but you may want to do something about the boot.
