I can't hear any audio while navigating when I'm using my Android phone. It navigates fine but not fun when you can't hear directions. I checked all of the sound and media setting in the infotainment screen. On the dash screen I found a setting that tells you the that the audio is off but no way to adjust it. Appreciate any help.

I’ve come across something like this once before. Just check it, for :poop: and giggles…. Turn the volume up on the phone.

I ran into this issue and was able to reproduce it.

What happened to me was while android auto was giving me audio directions I changed lanes without indicating. This made the lane departure chime go off which muted android auto directions. They never came back on after that.

Turning on and off the truck fixed it. Disconnecting and reconnecting the phone might as well. Or maybe even stopping and starting directions.

I raised this issue with my local dealership. The issue seems to be directly related to the "handshake" or interface between Android Auto and the truck. Volume is significantly different when using audio aspects of mapping or music apps without Android Auto. Once Andoid Auto is brought into the mix, volume is reduced and, sometimes, highly disfunctional. It foes not make a difference if Andoid Auto is running as wireless or wired... both work poorly. The service team at my dealership could offer me no solutions. Android Auto points at Toyota and Toyota points at Android Auto to assign fault and responsibility.

Great answer. Yes I believe pointing the finger at Toyota is a dealership specialty

I think you have something there. I used the lane departure assist and I think that's when it quit working but I don't know how to fix it. I've tried restarting the phone and hardwiring the phone neither was successful but I thank you for the answer

You said you see that the volume for directions is muted. I can't recall if there is a volume mixer for Android auto but it might be worth checking. Another long shot is using the volume knob to turn up the direction volume. It will only adjust the direction volume while it is actively giving you audio directions though so you'd kinda be shooting in the dark.

Not quite sure what you're talking about on the Android auto mixer as I've never seen one. Here's what I meant about the audio being off.

Oh that's interesting. Never seen that. Is that the media/audio screen? I don't use that one so I don't know what would cause that. Maybe something in the Toyota side of the head unit. There are some audio and volume settings in there.

I had never seen that before either. That's all that it shows. It had been no options to turn it on or off. Just to clarify, that is the dash screen you're looking at

I was asking which dash screen that is. You can have 3 screens and customize each so it isn't clear what that one is supposed to show. I'm assuming it's the one that shows the audio source. What happens if you just press the volume knob to turn on or off audio?
