A Taco, an IBEX and a Revolver
BAK Revolver X4ts tonneau cover & the Küat IBEX bed rack
IMG_3588.webp

I got the BAK Revolver X4ts for Christmas shortly after I got my Taco. I like Revolver for its low profile when closed, rigid metal frame and roll up feature that doesn’t impede on bed space or block the rear window or rear view camera when open. I had been looking at Küat IBEX (SKU: IBEXA1) for a while and didn’t pick one up until they had an adapter that would fit the Revolver X4ts - that was finally released a few months ago and is the Retractable Tonneau Adapter - IBEXA1/A2/A3 - Compatible with Retrax, LineX, and BAK (SKU: AIXRMMS). I love the finished look of the IBEX rack, no exposed bolts or rivets, and a well built out ecosystem of accessories that uses Küat’s t-slot system.

The Adapter

When I got the my tonneau cover, I emailed Küat and asked if they had an adapter - and Küat said “Sorry no…” Fast forward a year and we have this. The adapter box actually said “Jeep Gladiator” on it - which has been out for a while. So maybe the just had to get some testing done. The box shorted me 3 T-Slot nuts, but Küat was kind enough to 2 day ship replacement bolts.

The IBEX adapter rails sit on the top of the Revolver X4ts rails and are locked down by 3 pairs t-slot nuts and bolts. I used a little removable thread lock to help secure the rails. The IBEX rack will sit on top of the rails and be secured from the inside.

Lots of videos on YouTube of the IBEX being assembled, so no need to recreate content. It’s a good looking rack!!

Match made in heaven in my humble opinion.

This is one of 6 attachment points on the adapter rails to attach to the IBEX rack (3 on each side). Normally any bolts the attach the IBEX to the truck, Küat provides security bolts that have a pin in the socket, preventing any normal Allen wrench from removing the bolts. This is NOT the case with the adapter. Hopefully Küat will make security bolts available soon.

Here is a close-up Revolver T-Slot Rail (bottom), Küat’s adapter rail (middle - you can see the flange to the right), and the IBEX rack sitting on top of everything.

Here is a wider view of the rack sitting on the adapter rail.

And the moment of truth

Sucess! A tonneau cover compatible with a bed rack!

Close-up of the rolled up Revolver tonneau inside the IBEX frame, snug, but it clears the frame and should clear Küat’s MOLLE panels.

Final Thoughts
Although I like the look of the full width MOLLE panel, I will probably go with 3 of the narrow panels. That way I can still access the truck bed from the sides of the truck.

You probably will be limited on what you can mount on the inside of the MOLLE panels due to the roll-up nature of the tonneau cover… so no RotopaX on the inside.

The Revolver rails and IBEX adapter raise the rack above the roof of the cab.

I eventually plan on getting the crossbar risers, so not a big deal and it gives me a little extra clearance over the antenna. I would also like to add the Küat DEK with the Diode Dynamic lights. (Küat if you are reading, I’d be happy to review it!)

Another reason I chose the IBEX was it cleared my digital rear view camera.
IMG_3664.webp

Just a bit of the vertical bars on the edges of the camera’s field of view.

Overall an easy installation, with straight forward instructions. Küat customer service was great and got replacement parts out quickly. Really happy with my tonneau cover and bed rack. Küat makes a premium product, solid, well engineered and well designed. BAK Revolver fits my needs perfectly, some added bed security but gets out of the way when I actually have to haul something.

If you are looking for a tonneau cover and bed rack combo, this is a great option.
