I will be asking for a copy of the PDI upon delivery.
Good ideal to ask for a copy of your PDI doc.

You're right about who does the PDI, and don't forget these are the same level techs who do your oil changes at most dealerships.

And then you have places like Pronto and Jiffy Lube.

At my last job as a service writer, we had a technician perform an oil change but forget to actually put the oil in. Another technician needed the lift and moved the car. The signal to indicate "No oil" was supposed to be an orange cone on top of the engine, but that didn't happen. The engine seized about a quarter mile down the road. They ended up replacing the engine with a used one that had fewer miles on it. I have plenty of stories like that.

I can imagine.

My wife and I were getting ready to make a 700 mile trip and she wanted to get the engine oil changed in her Infiniti suv. She always felt that it was safer than some quick change place. After we got back she left one day before me and I saw the puddle of oil on the garage floor. I called her and she called her dealer, who flat bedded the truck to their shop.

The service manager already had two theories about what had happened, because he said they had that happen all the time. In her case they put a new drain plug gasket on top of one that had stuck to the sump. He said that in 500-1,000 miles the drain plug would back out and the oil would follow. He wasn't even surprised, just curious which screw up it had been.

Her engine survived, but it could have easily died because of a simple mistake. I then remembered why I still dragged my butt under my car and truck to change the oil. I swore I was not going to do that with my Taco, but I am reconsidering.

My salesperson legit looked at me and asked, “you want them deflated? You mean inflated, right?’

“No, my guy. I want them down to 32, they’re probably at 50+ now.“

Took a while. Theyre sitting at 34 lol

I know that this topic has been covered in the past, but i would like to raise it again.

When i received my TRD off road the ride seemed excessively bumpy and overall felt very harsh. I didnt think much of it (because truck) until i was browsing through the Toyota app and noticed that that my tire pressures were at 45psi, and that number only got bigger once i drove for about 50miles on a highway. For the TRD off road the tire pressure on the door card states 30psi, so i went to reduce mine down to 32psi on each corner, and let me tell you how much smoother and more pleasant the ride has become.

Make sure to reset your TPMS afterwards. There are a bunch of videos on youtube on how to do it.
I have been driving my TRD Pro for 2 weeks and just realized they’re between 45-48. Crazy

Crazy, but unfortunately kind of normal. I bet your truck rides a lot better with the tire pressure set correctly.

I found out my Pro was set at 46psi when trying to overcome deep snow a month after I got my truck which didn't fair that well off-road. I now have it set at the factory setting of 32psi and the ride is much better.

From reading this forum and from my past experience when we picked up our 2020 Palisade I brought a tire gauge with me when I picked up the truck and they were actually around 33 psi which I thought wasn't too bad but ended up dropping them down to 30 a few days later.

The Palisade I picked up in Virginia Beach so had a little bit of a drive back home and was wondering why it was riding do rough. Found out they were at 40 psi. which was way higher than they were suppose to be.

This is why the tires are over inflated. They want the trucks to stay on the truck!

I now carry a portable 12v/120v tire inflator and a 20' AC power cord. It all just fits nicely in my rear bed panel compartment on the passenger side. I also have a portable deflator and coupler to use with my inflator that I take with me as needed. Nice to have the right tools to do the job when needed at unexpected places of travel.

All 4 tires were sitting at 42 PSI when I picked up the truck. Do they come from the factory this high or are the dealerships just blasting them full of air

The tires are overinflated for shipping, because the trucks are tightly cinched down. They are delivered that way because the dealers are lazy and not following PDI procedure, which calls out checking tire pressure.
