I like the way the TRD light bar works in the Pro/TH where it toggles on/off with the highbeams. You have to push the "Light Bar" button to enable its operation, but then it only comes on with the highbeams.

Still waiting for my TRD Offroad to show up, but thinking about adding some DD SS3 driving lights in the "fangs" and would love to be able to toggle them with highbeam switch.

Presently have some aftermarket lights in another vehicle that also has aux switches, but they're a pain to get to quickly when driving on rural highways and interstates.

I'm using these mainly for advanced warning of deer in middle-of-nowhere Wyoming, but need to turn them off quickly if for oncoming traffic.

I did my lightbar that way on my third-gen Taco and had planned for this with my ditch lights with this truck, but alas, I couldn't find the high-beam wire to tap into.

Same as Sagebrush, on the '19 we wired my light bar thru a toggle and the high-beam wire. Both had to be activated for the bar to work. Have not gone there yet with my '24.

Most states have the legal requirement for auxiliary lights only be used in conjunction with high beams. It’s nice that Toyota set people on the path to a correct (and legal) installation. ?

Toyota had nothing to do with my install. It was all the shop owner, common sense, and me. To your point however generally it is illegal to have auxiliary lights lighted when meeting other traffic in my state.

Great post and I 100% agree with you except for the fang lights. I have the same lust for super long range driving/pencil beams because we have high speed, deer (and feral hog and sometimes cow) infested roads here in central TX also. The fang light setups I've seen so far seem to be decorative and not functional.

I would love to have detailed instructions on how to get and install a light bar button in one of my many unused aux switch positions (I have a base TRD Off-Road) and wire it as if I had the Pro/TH lights. And I would LOVE to put powerful lights in place of the fangs if such a thing exists. Droid: have you already checked out how the SS3 pods would mount in the fang locations? From just a quick look it seems like there's not enough space. Maybe the plastic fangs could be partially cut away leaving just the lens area to protrude, with the rest of the pod mounted behind the fang? Or maybe the flush mount pods would just be bolted to the front of the fangs? I guess that could work but would be uglier. Please give details, thanks in advance.

Baja now has a "vent" LED option but only in white. No amber.

I would like to choose which lights are controlled by the high beam toggle : Lightbar, Stock high beams or both. 1 switch for lightbar and 1 for highbeam. Whichever lights are selected would be controlled by the highbeam toggle and/or auto dim circuit.

I can do it with a couple relays and possibly a third to deal with the canbus when only the lightbar is active. It would also pull a separate +12 fused source for when both light circuits are on.

I would need to interrupt the power going to the high beams and redirect it. That's where im stuck for now - building a harness for that.

This completely violates my rule of keeping my custom stuff isolated from stock but 🙃

Maybe a winter day project...
