I got a steal of a deal ($900) on a legit set of 18" Toyota BBS forged wheels that come off TRD Pro Sequoias and Tundras. Not my photo, just posting as reference.
I drive a 2024 Tacoma Hybrid TRD Off-Road on stock suspension, no lift. Before I order tires I just want to sanity-check the math.
The stock wheels are 18x7.5 +55 and the BBS wheels are 18x8 +47.5. Going from 7.5 to 8 inches adds half an inch of total width, which means a quarter inch on the outside of the wheel, or about 6.35 mm. The offset change from +55 to +47.5 moves the whole wheel outward another 7.5 mm. So the outer edge of the wheel ends up about 13.85 mm farther out than stock. Right?
I’m planning to run 285/65R18 Falken Wildpeak AT4W. Compared to my current 265s that adds about 10 mm of sidewall per side, so the outer tire edge ends up roughly 23–24 mm (0.9-0.94 inches) farther out than my current setup.
Diameter-wise 285/65 and 265/70 are basically the same, so height isn’t really changing, just width and stance.
Given the BBS wheels have less positive offset and a little more width, I should still be in good shape on UCAs and coilovers, and I don't think anything would rub, right? Would love confirmation here. Anyone have experience?
Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything before I pull the trigger.
