Looking to see if anyone else has dealt with this issue that I’m starting to get on my Tacoma hybrid 2025

I press on the brake and press the start button and the vehicle does not start the dashboard and radio turn on but not the vehicle. I have to keep pressing the brake and start for the vehicle engine to start up. I never had this problem before starting the vehicle. The dealer tested the battery and ran a multi point inspection and found nothing and said they could not proceed because they have to duplicate the problem.

Will provide a picture of what it says when I try turning on the vehicle and starting it.

That you have to repeatedly press the brake and start button for the engine to turn over makes me think something in those supporting connections is loose or failing.

The truck's operating system expects confirmation the brake pedal is pressed before it will allow the engine to start; there's a pedal switch associated with that. And waits to see the start circuit closed by pressing the button. Another switch, connection and wiring.

If you're pressing the brake pedal and later the start button but the screen display appears otherwise, that's a tell. And that by repeatedly pressing those things it eventually starts is another. Bad switch, contacts, connector backing out, wire, etc.

^ That could also explain why no codes are being seen. From the truck's perspective, it's waiting on you to press something. You are, but poor contacts or connections are preventing the process from continuing.

How long have you been dealing with this problem?

You mention the dealer could not find any faults, codes and couldn't replicate the problem.

When it does happen to you, how often does this occur? How many days a week? Times a day?

Can you replicate the problem or is it random in nature?

Can you correlate this problem with other events, times of day, conditions? Temperature?

Edit,

I assume the dealer checked for any related Technical Service Bulletins or recalls.

It could be a software/OS-related issue. But I'd think if it was, error codes would be seen, the tech could see one or more modules is not working correctly, etc. You could ask the dealer to confirm the truck and all modules are running the latest software.

The wording of this post is a little confusing. But it seems like the vehicle is (or is not) no longer cycling through Accessory mode? If so, this is a setting that can be changed in the screen menus.

I also may or may not be retarded and have totally misinterpreted this thread.

Could it be that the battery in your fob is going dead, had a similar problem when the battery in my wallet key was about dead.
I have a similar issue when my fob is too close to my RFID blocking wallet. However it will say key not detected.
