Then it's a drill bit, a bench vise with rubber bars (or something to non marr), some tape to mark your fold points. Once in place needle nose pliers to adjust pressure and alignment. Took me a long time to brain storm the solution and approach. But putting it into action was 20 minutes. All in less than an hour from nothing to final placement being slow and methodical about it.

Talking with Rave support on this one. Can anyone remember, is it possible to install the camera 180 degrees on their bracket if you wanted too?

In other words, the bracket only allows the cameras connector to slide in one way, correct? At 0 degrees basically. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the cameras connector is NOT symmetrical shaped. Meaning it won't allow it to be installed at 0 degrees and 180 degrees.

That's what I thought/remember. I should of took better pictures. My interpretation from Rave was a bit lose on what they were maybe saying. So regardless they are sending me a failsafe bracket in the mail now and I will tear down the truck again this weekend to determine if the original bracket one that was sent is just a bad print that was somehow upside down or if I'm just a complete idiot at this point.

They also said they only ever offered one bracket, not one that specifically mounts it upside down. So I'm really curious to know what's going on here.

I carved out the bump in the bracket so I could flip my camera manually so I wouldn’t have to reflash to type 2 grille... only to find out it was upside down after doing that. (I had misunderstood, lol, his bracket already was flipped!) So I took it all apart again and installed it the way it was intended to be and it was right side up again. Anyway my point was it is possible to install the camera upside down if you are willing to chisel out the tiny corner of plastic from the bracket. The screw holes are symmetrical so you can flip 180

I think you're missing my point though. The Rave bracket i got ONLY allowed the camera to be inserted with being upside down. Which obviously shouldn't be the case.

Ah, yeah - I never sold type 2 brackets to people, I only made that one prototype for myself - as I assumed most people wouldn't want that version as it required the reflash.

No, that bracket is actually totally different if you look at it compared to what i posted from Rave. And thats proably by design because that photo is showing the bracket on a grill that is not an OEM grille. But one with raptor lights. So they have may different brackets for different aftermarket style grilles they offer. OR maybe thats just a super old photo, who knows.

YEs, that is exactly how I installed it, just like that. But by doing that, the camera slides in 180 degrees then whats shown. Meaning the notch on the connector is not at the top with hte lettering on hte bracket, its at the bottom of the bracket. There was no way for me to mount the bracket like this, but also have the camera slide into it with the notch up. It was one or the other.

Hopefully the replacement is correct. Otherwise I’d probably knock out the corners to get the camera in properly.

I did see your reccomendation there. But thinking about that. I would think that greatly then influences the camera module to not be seated and sitting level when in the bracket if theres now greater margins for free movement.
