So this is the bracket and how it’s installed in your grill?

I carved out the bump in the bracket so I could flip my camera manually so I wouldn’t have to reflash to type 2 grille... only to find out it was upside down after doing that. (I had misunderstood, lol, his bracket already was flipped!) So I took it all apart again and installed it the way it was intended to be and it was right side up again. Anyway my point was it is possible to install the camera upside down if you are willing to chisel out the tiny corner of plastic from the bracket. The screw holes are symmetrical so you can flip 180
Ah, yeah - I never sold type 2 brackets to people, I only made that one prototype for myself - as I assumed most people wouldn't want that version as it required the reflash.

No, that bracket is actually totally different if you look at it compared to what i posted from Rave. And thats proably by design because that photo is showing the bracket on a grill that is not an OEM grille. But one with raptor lights. So they have may different brackets for different aftermarket style grilles they offer. OR maybe thats just a super old photo, who knows.

Sorry. You’re right. I clicked the wrong link.
This one? And the RAVE lettering sits this way?

YEs, that is exactly how I installed it, just like that. But by doing that, the camera slides in 180 degrees then whats shown. Meaning the notch on the connector is not at the top with hte lettering on hte bracket, its at the bottom of the bracket. There was no way for me to mount the bracket like this, but also have the camera slide into it with the notch up. It was one or the other.

Hopefully the replacement is correct. Otherwise I’d probably knock out the corners to get the camera in properly.

I did see your reccomendation there. But thinking about that. I would think that greatly then influences the camera module to not be seated and sitting level when in the bracket if theres now greater margins for free movement.

I'm looking at the bracket Rave is sending you and I can tell you, it's not your camera, it's the bracket. Something is funky at Rave. I designed my brackets and made them publicly available before Rave released theirs, and when designing mine, realized something quickly when taking initial measurements.

Do you see how there are two clearance holes for the screws to mount the camera to the bracket?

Well, one hole is "centered" and the other hole is aligned with the top edge, in relation to the bottom and top of the cutout for the camera.

That is what controls the orientation - on my bracket, you don't need the notches in the other corners, the holes control the orientation.

My "type 1" bracket, retaining the upright orientation from other trims.

My "type 2" bracket, using the upside-down orientation from the TH/TRD Pro.

Compare the holes on my CAD models to your bracket.

Also attached a picture of the actual "type 1" bracket I've sold probably 20 people on this forum. No one has yet to tell me that it mounted their camera in the wrong orientation. I think I only had one other member request that I send them a "type 2" bracket as they didn't mind the ECU reconfiguration.

Thank you for putting in so much time and effort on this with me.

I emailed rave just now waiting for their response.

I'm going to really digest everything you're saying in a bit when I can focus more.

But I have a 3d printer. Is it possible to print the bracket you have designed to make this work with what u see going on?

Obviously I'll pay you. Just looking to put this to bed today.

The file is available for free here in another thread I started. No need to pay me. If you have a printer, go for it, I recommended using solid infill ABS, PC, or ASA (or any other high-temp filament) could work as well. I print it in the same orientation as the image above, use supports for the ledges.

What a coincidental recent video by RAVE.

Good for them. And clearly there have been multiple people phoning/chatting/writing to them in order to order the part and take the time for the video. Now they should create one showing people how to adjust the camera after the fact, and what risks can exist.

Yeah. By getting my hands on the factory calibration process I was able to undo/fix what my dealership had broken and bring everything back online. It did take a combination of ups downs left rights and lift (which performs a zoom in/out btw).

Took about 3h but got it more aligned than even factory.

Debating whether to try and sell or just return with restock deduction the proper OEM camera for the heritage grille. Or swap it out anyway (except I don't have a tactrix cable to change the grille setting).

You need an area approximate 3 trucks wide by 2 trucks long to do the calibration. About 200ft of string, something to weight/anchor it with (you'll set 6 to 7 "lines"), a plumb bobb, a metric tape measure good for 10 meters ish, and about 2 full rolls of 2.5" painters tape (or other tape or material of high contrast to your ground color). You end up making 4 "x" and 6 dashes that have to be 10cm in width and the corner crosses are 80cm long on each arm!
Getting it set up took a bit over 2hs. Playing with the calibration menu in the truck took another 30 or so. The rest was initial prep and cleaning it all up.
