Decided to try out the new ARB brushless single air compressor since there was a deal at my local 4WP. Mounted it to the passenger bed between the fender with the air filter facing upwards using a couple of 1/8“ thick aluminum sheets. I trimmed the ARB wiring harness by loosely following the Kraken Tire inflation system install instructions: Kraken Tire Inflation System Installation Guide

I replaced the 10 awg power wire with 15 feet of 8 awg wire routed through the rubber seal underneath the rear passenger seat; then routed the wire along the passenger door sill wiring loom and into the engine bay through the rubber grommet by the front passenger fuse box. I put a 60 amp inline circuit breaker next to the fuse under the hood; this keeps power cut when I’m not using it. I hate using electrical tape for looms but found Tesa Automotive tape to be pretty good.

I mounted ARB’s universal switch panel and air chuck right next to the bed light. Most painful part is removing the inner fender liner, those 13 clips will make you sweat. Be careful when cutting into the truck bed too, those fibers are nasty and never quite wash out of your clothes; wear a mask.

Remove 7 bolts using a 10mm socket. Pull off the fender flare (should just snap away with a ton of plastic clips). Then you will see 13 plastic clips that need to be depressed on the back side and pushed through. There are 2 regular pull ones in the center top of the fender liner that pull out straight down (last image).

I did a similar install with a Thor's Lightning Compressor. There is lots of room for things in there. It certainly would have been easier to work with the wheel liner off but I pulled a few of those clips and said "screw that" and just did the job with the liner in place. I commend you on your tenacity!

I don’t blame you, lost 40 minutes of my life trying not to break those small plastic clips. I wanted to mount the compressor as high as possible to prevent water from ingressing into the air filter. Keeping it in front of the rear wheel and protected by the fender liner should prevent mud and dirt from caking it immediately. Hoping to eventually get a high clearance rear bumper so I’ve been avoiding the space behind the tire, but you are right, plenty of room for activities! Nice job on your compressor set up!
