Hybrid Tacoma Brake lines 17” wheels.

I recently upgraded the wheels on my 2025 Tacoma Trd off-road premium hybrid and replace the factory 18 inch rims with 17 inch wheels. I know that Toyota has done a recall on the brake lines, but it only covers for the non-hybrids with 17” rims. Today, as I was checking out the clearance between the brake lines on my wheels I noticed that the space is not much. I’m a bit concerned, especially since off-roading and snowy conditions can cause buildup of snow and dirt in the wheel well. Has anyone else changed wheels on their hybrid from 18 to 17 inch? What was your solution to getting the brake lines out of the way of the wheels?

Think the recall has been extended to 18” wheels as well, not sure if all trims, but certain the sport now qualifies for the recall as well.

Not sure if hybrids are included. Mine is a 2025 got it last month and no recall notice.

Read the statement from Toyota, it says effected owners would be notified by late August - for ‘24 & ‘25’s.

it also says call with questions. Think that would be smartest thing to do instead of looking for solutions on an Internet forum.

Yup. I wanted the taller sidewall and options of a 17” wheel. I have the OEM just in case I need to switch back. So far no issues with brake lines after 11,000 miles.

I bought my truck end of July, so i figured this would be more for early production 25 models if anything. I will call them on Monday to see what they say.

Some mud, but not much. No snow. So I’m probably not the best test for whether this is an issue. Also, why all caps?

We are aware of the issue. I have yet to hear from a person who put 17s on a hybrid that had an actual problem but at some point I’d like to get a solution just in case.
