FWIW, I’ve never disliked/had any problem w/ the in-front-of-the-shifter phone holder/charger in our trucks and actually think Toyota did a nice job re its design. . . .

but, there are times when having a more eye-level location would be nice.

My luck w/ any type of suction cup mount has been bad and after trying a few over the years, finally learned my lesson there. Some of you guys have pretty cool mounting set-ups using the above the screen area and I’d been thinking about going that route as well, but wanted to leave the little storage tray I’ve got up there as is if possible.

Saw this mount in one of the mailing-list generated e-mails we all get seemingly every day and thought it looked like a good solution. At $79, it’s probably a little on the high side, but I figured worth a try nonetheless and pulled the trigger. The install was less than 5 minutes total and my initial opinion is definitely positive—— it feels solid and well made.

I use the same OffRoam mount base with a short arm and a repurposed Bulletpoint MagSafe holder. The OffRoam base was a little tricky to install, but it’s been rock solid for me. Definitely recommend.

Pro Clip makes one that clips over the AC vent that then uses a mag mount or clamp. Pricy as well, but holds tight. Suction cup mounts do not hold tight in a truck, my experience.
