Hello yall!

Yesterday I stopped by my local toyota dealer to check out tacomas, and next thing I know I was driving off the lot in a new 2025 Tacoma Trd Pro in white ext/red int. Perhaps I should’ve stayed home and I wouldn’t feel as broke as I currently feel, but I certainly don’t regret the purchase.

That said, I have couple of newbie questions.

1) I’ve heard of the infamous taco lean. Whether that is factual or fictional is beyond me, but mine does have a slight lean on the front left (driver’s side). Upon research, it appears this was more common issue for older gens, but anyone know if this is still seen on the 4G tacos, especially the trd pros? I checked the show room, and while the significance varied one to another, they all had slight lean on the front left.

2) Upon research, looks like yall recommend the first oil change at around 500 miles due to metal shaving and etc. i researched but couldnt get a straight answer. Can someone confirm the oil (quantity and type) and oil filters are the same for trd pros as the rest of the line ups?

3) While this vehicle was in the showroom, someone was gracious enough to switch the vehicle to 4W H, and when I bought the vehicle the guy drove the car outside, and I drove around in the larking lot for may be 2 minutes (less than 10mph and a total of 4 full turns). The lot is asphalt and dry and when I turned the vehicle is when I heard tire squeaking, loss of power, and abnormal sound from most likely transmission. The vehicle was switched to 2W after I brought it to park and the car drives fine. I should have definitely checked before start driving but I was a little too excited. That said, do you think there was any damage done to the vehicle, especially with those 4 turns? The first two turns were not at full (maybe 3/4 turn on steering wheel) and the last two were one full steering wheel turn.

4) The vehicle came with factory roof rack thing. I did notice today driving on highway there is very loud vibration coming from the front of the sunroof area. The sounds and vibration comes and goes. Does anyone without roof rack have the same issue? Or is this due to the win hitting against the roof rack?

5) Lastly, did your trd pro come with a pump for isosynamic seats? And other tools such as a L shape wrench to unlock the wheel locks and stuff? My car came with 3x aux cables and that’s it (which also I am not sure why I got 3 aux cables when there are 4 aux for the vehicle).

I apologize for dumb questions and thanks in advance for replies!

1. Congrats and enjoy your new truck.
2. Don’t overthink the rest, I’m sure your truck is fine driving that little in 4h, remove the roof rack (everyone does for the same reason), oil change questions will get you 107 pages of conjecture, and now refer back to #1.
3. No dumb questions, all good.

Congrats and welcome. I wouldn't sweat the 4WD system issue. I'm sure the truck is fine. As for the oil change thing, well perhaps you might have come across one of my posts. I'm pretty anal about oil changes, especially early on in a motors life. Just because I'm crazy about oil changes means you need to be. If I could offer you a suggestion, dont follow the manufacturer suggested 10K mile oil change interval, but rather make your changes ever 5K miles. Just because it's synthetic doesn't mean it's not getting dirty, after all! For Oil, your choice, I'm happy with the Kirkland Synthetic 0w-20. Oil filters (and anything else consumable for that matter) is Toyota OEM. Here's the Toyota OEM Filter. You can order online anywhere, should run about 5 bucks or so: Oil Filter: 90915-YZZN1

As for a lean, I'm new to the Taco (last year -- mine's just about ready to roll 20K miles) and I've never seen it look anything other than square on the ground. No lean, no nothing.

So... how far is the truck leaning? As in inches? I sure haven't noticed mine. The third-gen Tacos had that issue because the fuel tank was on the driver's side. It's now on the passenger side.

And no, you don't need to change your oil at 500. It comes with a filter that will catch the break-in metal.

Me? I change my every 5,000.

I have not yet checked the measurement, but I did notice at the dealership that only trd pros are leaning on the front left. I wonder if there is something in the trd pros that causes them to lean while other line ups don’t.

The oil filter on my OR is the same filter on my 2007 John Deere Gator with the 615cc gas engine. TINY. You bet I changed the oil and filter at 950 miles and will do the second one when the truck reaches 4k. Four to 5k miles thereafter. The 100k owners of 3.4L Tundra's with failing engines can confirm that the filter doesn't trap everything (extreme example, however). Your truck, your choice

I had my oil changed at the factory just after being poured in. Then again at the port as a PIO, at the dealer upon delivery, and again, just after I signed the purchase documents. ;)
