I am purchasing a smart cap with sliding side windows in order to have my dog ride in a crate under the cap. Has anyone found a way to keep the area cool in the summer? I am thinking about rigging something up with a portable AC unit.

The positive pressure vent on the top–with the windows open–should keep it cooler while driving.

I would consider the alucab over the smartcap, as aluminum will stay cooler than steel. White will also stay cooler than black.

FWIW back in the day when I had a cap I opened the front slider on the cap and small 1" - 2" crack on the side windows of the cap while driving the air circulated and the girls never complained. Opened the side windows when parked, but never left them in the cap very long when parked.
