I'll throw in my 2¢ plus a nickel as a Limited owner. I mostly drive on rural roads and highways. I also drive everything like I stole it. The Limited Hybrid with full time AWD gives me the traction I want on wet pavement, gulf coast rainy, and the AVS shocks give me the best of suspension options. The ride modes are the difference, Comfort mode for soft cruising like a TRD Off-Road, Sport S+ for my more spirited driving like a TRD Sport. The OTT tune really makes Sport S+ shine.

I'm not going to deny I'm concerned about the hybrid system adding complexity that may compromise longevity, however in the short term, the added umph of the hybrid system is intoxicating, and probably worth every penny it will cost me in the long term.

The only downside that I can think of is I can't replace the shocks without losing the AVS shocks. This limits my lift options, but it's not like I have any major off-road ambitions, I live in a flat and featureless part of Texas so a lift isn't gaining me much beyond looks. The worst I deal with is mud and flooding. And while I'll probably increase my tire size to 265/70/18, it will be a higher performance AT/street tire, as that's where I spend 99% of my time.

I don't like the wheels on the limited being a plastic cover, but I was probably going to swap them out anyway eventually. I don't mind the chrome, so there is no issues for me there.

If you have ambitions for serious off-road, and want to do one of the more advanced lifts, that changes the shocks, then perhaps one of the other trims may be better. Don't get me wrong, I drool over portals and the super fancy Icon intelligent control. And I suppose the portals would let me keep my AVS, but Icon's intelligent control isn't compatible with AVS, and is probably a better system than AVS. At nearly $10k for the Icon intelligent control system, I'm not sure of its value where I live. Both of which are overkill for me since I don't live close enough to terrain that makes use of such toys. If I lived in Utah, or the more elevated areas of Texas, then I would have other ambitions for my Taco. After aftermarket exhaust and intake, combined with the OTT tune, I'm super happy with my setup.
