New Tires & Wheels on My Limited: 18" American Outlaw + Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail AT Tires

Them wheels look good with the silver. Was looking at them before I put these Tundra wheels on my Limited but was skeptical of the offset as I don’t like too much tire sticking out. But they look damn nice.

I think they look terrible. I will be down in a couple weeks to take them off your hands for a used price of course. They'd be passable on my silver TRD, but I'd suffer. (I think you made great choices!)

I brought the used ones home thinking I was gonna practice taking the plastic chrome off the wheels because they seem to look OK without without the plastic chrome from the one photo I looked at on this forum but they're still attached to the tires so I figured I'll have my wife put them on her marketplace and sell the whole set for 400 maybe. I'm sure somebody could really use a good price on some tires. I think I've seen on the forum that they work on Tundras.

I meant a tongue in cheek comment, Nick. I'd like to take your current setup; you put together an excellent package I my humble opinion. It beats the heck out of Toyota's design on a Limited edition.

I was gonna post about it but I had an issue which has been taken care of now. At 79 mph it was so bad I couldn't read my phone that was attached to the dash on a phone holder.
I called them up and let them know and they told me to bring it back in.
I was heading down I95 so I went back this morning and sure enough two of the tires were not balanced correctly. I specifically told them to put their best guy or guys on that truck. That's my life on that highway especially when I'm doing 88 without a flux capacitor.??
I took it back today and it's all good and pretty smooth, but not as smooth as it should be.
It's about the same as what it was with the original tires and wheels, so I suspect it has something to do with either the front aerodynamics, possibly with that ugly-ass lowered front air deflector or something with the front suspension maybe?
I've been through the posts about the shaking/vibration so I'm wondering if Toyota isn't trying to Cover Their A$$.
Years ago I bought a 2004 F150 and it had a little bit of a vibration to it. The TSB had them put a weight on the left side of the rear axle which corrected the problem.
I bought another 2004 six months later that had the same issue. They kept claiming there was no problem with vibration. I explained what happened with the first one and they just totally ignored me so I'm sure that came from Ford.
that's why I suspect Toyota may be covering this one up because it would be a major recall.
It should fall under a safety issue so I think all of us that have that issue and concern about our safety should notify the NHTSA and see what happens.
What say you all?
Has anyone who removed that front air deflector noticed a difference with the shaking/vibration?

I took the chin dam off day 1. I’ve never had an issue with vibration so I can’t comment towards that. Although I drive nowhere near 90 MPH. I might top out around 70-75

I decided to get rid of those horrible General Grabber HTS tires that that came with my truck. I couldn't make a right hand turn without them spinning. Probably was just a rear right tire spinning but regardless, it spun.
They are just the most horrible tires on wet roads I've ever driven with. I really don't understand how they have a decent rating.
And of course those stupid plastic chrome fake cheap looking pieces of crap they call wheels was just asinine to put on that truck.
$56,000 for a loaded Limited truck and they put crappy little cheap junkyard wheels on it. FFS Toyota! What the hell is the matter with you?!
Then they put those stupid highway tires on them. I couldn't even drive on the grass because they just spun like crap.

So $2800 later, I put the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT 265/65/18 (OEM Size) on a new set of rims (9" vs 7.5" OEM) from Discount Tire.

$80 instant off on the tires, $80 off the rims and there's another $40 rebate on the Cooper website until February 28.
These were about the highest rated tires on Tire Rack. I'm all about wet traction and braking when it comes to tires, followed equally by noise and comfort.

I really need honest opinions on how these look because they'll let me trade them up for something else if I decide I don't like them. I was going for the all black look but I decided on this look.
I hate all the chrome and I wish they would just match the body paint on places like the mirror Max and the door handles.
But that's just my opinion. I was thinking about blacking things out but decided against that.
(Also, is there a way we can post pictures to our profile? I don't see how. I was able to do this on the Ranger 4G but don't know how here.)

My original post was deleted by mistake due to a glitch in this thread and the moderator requested that I re-post, so here it is----I think your new set up looks great. The new wheels are definitely an improvement imo.

Also, after seeing other comments that were made after my initial post, thought I would add that many buyers prob pick the trim that comes closest to what they're looking for feature/option-wise despite that trim likely having other aspects that they're not thrilled about (in your case Limited = mostly what you wanted, but you get the chrome whether you want it or not). In my case, I'd have loved getting the coil suspension & 360 cameras and would have happily paid extra for both if Toyota had that as an option, but what I got has been fantastic for me and was the closest match to what I wanted though not quite perfect. The only way to have gotten the above 2 features missing would have resulted in my having a longer than wanted 4-dr Tacoma that after rear seat delete would have cost me $20k more which wasn't worth it to me at all. It's nice that Toyota gives us many more choices than other makers, but it's still about compromise re best fit for each buyer.

Sorry if that was too much info. Again, love your truck and so happy you're back and doing well after having such a scary experience w/ your 1st Tacoma.

Thanks. I'm gonna look into the Rok Blokz mudflaps after all since they have a wide option.
I didn't know what an offset was until these were installed so definitely need the mudflaps to prevent the chips.
