Not able to get axel back in after replacing needle bearing

After replacing the needle bearing with the bushing. I am unable to get seat the axel. I can’t get passed the c clip/snap ring. Any recommendations?

Use grease on the snap ring so it will stay with the gap down, can’t remember for sure? If that doesn’t work spin it with the gap up. Pretty sure it’s down though.

If it's a front CV, you're correct: gap down, get the axle as straight as possible, line up the splines, and you can use the axle itself as a sort of slide hammer to tap it into place.

If it's a rear axle, those usually slide in and the hub bolts up to the axle/diff housing, if it's anything like previous gen tacomas.
