What's up señoras y señoritas,

Long time taco lover and recent owner here from the Great White North.

Picked up a TRD OffRoad in late March, with the manual transmission and 5ft bed in Terra. Options are limited to Sport or Offroad in manual, and no other add-ons from factory.

Never really loved the TRD rim due to the machined silver edge so I grabbed a set of OEM steelies. I love steelies!

Well, when they showed up they weren't exactly gloss black but rather a very nice dark Gun Metal metallic grey. I wasn't sure I'd love them but oh yeah, they look super cool.

Any idea what I can use to cover the rear hub center? I'm considering using a High Heat Enamel in semi-gloss to finish the look.

Hit me up with ideas if you got 'em.

Thanks!

There are two styles of center cap that will work on these. Both found on eBay

Did you get the steelies from a Toyota dealership? If so, how much? Thanks!

What is the offset on the steelies? I was going to go that way but never could find rims that were anywhere close to the stock +55 offsets

They're the OEMs and are +25. They are only 7inch wide so you won't be able to run 285s, but the factory 265s are a nice fit, not much more poke. I think they look amazing, especially with that gunmetal finish. I was expecting your typical gloss black, glad to have this surprise when they showed up!

wow, the OEM steelies are 25mm??? and the spare is with this? I'll have to check. I have on hand four Nomad wheels of 25mm but they are 8.5 wide, I still don't know if I can install them cause I will want to put 255 tires, so I don't know if they'd rub. Nomad would not refund if I mounted tire to it, but dry mount just the rim probably won't tell me anything...

Did you torque these to 154 like the manual says, everyone I speak to says it's too high, the tire place, and I could only get a hold of one Toyota service dept to answer me and they said it's 90lbs. Even Google ai says it's too high. Only chat gpt agrees with the manual

I believe they were torqued to 100, I can't remember for sure, but I trust my mechanic, longtime Toyota guy himself and reputable. Pretty sure they were torqued to 100lbs.

The more I went back and forth with chat gpt, yes the manual definitely says 154 for steel wheels, and gpt clarified it's because the hub assembly is basically the same as the tundra now, with larger studs then they used to have in previous gens, and the tundra has had those torque specs for steelies going back to their 2nd Gen. And now with the 3rd gen tundra it's pretty much identical to the Tacomas 4th. So I guess I'm sticking with the manual and hope they don't snap.

Not knocking it, just seems like a lateral move to me...
I know its a thing, guess I dont have the balls to do it....
Could have had your offroad wheels power coated all black for $300....
I really like the sr5 stock wheels & had a sr5 before it was bought back due to paint defects.
I really wanted to blackout the sr5 wheels....
Well second truck I went with a sport even though im not a fan of the hood at all....
Hated the wheels.....
So when I got the sport, I had the wheels powder coated..
But then I sold them, when I came to the conclusion that tire options suck when it comes to 18's & your stuck with E load which ride like crap on these trucks, stiff sidewall...
