Oil change on low mileage

So a mechanic who posts on YouTube knows more than the engineers and master technicians that Toyota has in its employment that came up with the recommended oil change frequency? I appreciate that guy is a smooth talker, his voice is like molasses, but his opinion doesn't replace objective evidence or the expertise of the manufacturer.

Not everyone has your best interest in mind at all times. At the end of the day, it is Toyota's job to sale more vehicles, not sale a few vehicles that last the life of the customer.

And that same logic doesn't apply to a mechanic who makes their money from doing things like oil changes?

I just got my 2026 Trailhunter two weeks ago. I did my first oil change at 518 miles. Planning to change it again at 1500, then 5,000 miles. I did not change the oil filter, won't do that until the 5,000 mile oil change.
