There was a thread recently that was giving me worry about the powder coating CaliRaised uses, they don't do it in house, and it looks reeally thin, so I had them send them to me raw. Local powdercoating shops wanted an arm and a leg, and lots of people say to just rattle can them as they'll take abuse, and even powdercoating will eventually come off, and you want to be able to retuch it on the fly.

I'm using a "Hammered" Krylon Fusion, and loving the color of these in the sun!

As they arrive:

Sanded them down a bit to give the paint adherance, then started laying this stuff on:

Think they'll match my wheels really well, which were darker than I thought they'd be originally:

Will post back once I have them mounted!

Looks Awesome man!

If I had to though, I'd choose maybe multiple coats of bed liner or raptor liner

hey all, update here. Two cans of Krylon Hammered was all i needed, and I switched up the "steps" themselves to be black, with bedliner.

The results:

You can ignore that smudge where I stepped up with dusty flipflops, it came out pretty well, I think.

A few things:

The Caliraised "steps" come like a banana, and must be bent into a shape that stays "down". I was kinda annoyed, but they came out okay.

You can see not only the "banana mode" here, but a shitty coat of bedliner having a reaction:

you can see the Lowes can I bought and how it reacted. I sanded it down and ulltimately just "stuck with it" and did a sanding and many light coats, and it came out... okay.

The bedliner was a bit of a shit show. This was my first application of it, and it came out... not great. I should have went with roll on, for 80 bucks or so, but I bought a single can from lowes, and got what I paid for.

In the end, rock sliders will take abuse, and I think in the long term, rattle cans are the way to go. Powder coating seems like poor value for money, as it WILL fail, so treat these as what they are: ARMOR.

I'd give Caliraised 6/10. The step "tops' are bad. Bowed. Bananas, not treated, just bad quality. The sliders themselves are well built. INstallation went mostly ok. Maybe 7/10. Like a C+. They worked with me to change from sliders to steps, and then go from coated to RAW, but they took MULTIPLE pokes to finally get them shipped, and then I still had some issues. I had fully finger tightenend the screws on one side before I realized I needed to take them off and bend them into shape (the step tops, not the sliders, obvs). Frustrated, but ultimately I think they'll do their job. C+? B-? Man whatever.

Final showing here, sorry I blanked at the end. Had a few beers :)

should note: I bought one can of bedliner, and two cans of the hammered "silver" and two cans of matte black. Silver for the sliders themselves, and then black on the underside and topside of the steps, then bedliner on top of that black for the texture, so 5 cans total from lowes. Used all the silver, still have a very full can of matte black. Bedliner is drained.

Beauty shot:
