Potential issue with BakFlip gen 3 fitment on long bed with dual camera center brake light. Customer service wont respond. Requesting input/advice.

I wanted to post this up as a way to get input from the forum, but also as a potential warning.

I have the long bed Trailhunter, I purchased a BakFlip Gen 3 from Realtruck.com, I have previously purchased several of these bed covers for various other vehicles as well as my friends 4th gen Tacoma.

The install went smoothly, everything fits, however, I have a problem. Even if I move the cover so far back the tailgate cannot shut. When folding the cover in the complete upright position, the top of the cover is resting on the cameras in the brakel ight before the foam bumpers they included can touch the glass or body of the truck. This means the entire weight of the cover is being supported by the cameras. I have attempted to take pictures that show this and I will post them here.

I reached out to support and was a polite and thorough as I could possibly be about the issue. I told them I suspect they did not account for the cameras in my center brake light, as my best friend has a 4th gen Tacoma but his center brake light is different, it has a single camera lens and does not stick out as far. The cover fits perfectly on his Tacoma and clears the rear brake light as it should. I also said I am completely open to being wrong about what the issue is and being told I am doing something dumb and not seeing it. I really just want some help.

Every response I have received from BakFlip customer support seems like its either AI Generated or a script. They just keep asking for more pictures of the same issue, but never responding to what I am actually saying. This started back on the 17th. Each time they respond, I send the pictures they request immediatly, then it takes several days for them to respond and ask for more pictures.

Finally today, after I sent in another set of pictures they requested, they randomly marked my support request resolved and I got a How did we do survey.

I was wondering if anyone with a Trailhunter or another trim that gives you the extra cameras in the center brake light has a bakflip Gen 3 and it it clears the cameras.

I was also wondering if anyone else had any suggestions on how to reach an actual human and get some help with this.

I have a TRD PRO 5’ and do not have this issue. Must only be on the 6’

The guys that installed mine on my 5’ bed double stacked the foam on the middle. Not sure in your situation if that would help.

If you have the time, could you send a pic of how stacked the foam is in order to touch your glass before it hits the brake light? Do you have the brake light with the two cameras in it?

I thought I would post an update on this. I called back again, got my ticket reopened. They said they would send it to engineering, After a week with no further response, I called back. They said they would escalate things again. Later that day, they said they had not seen this issue since the 2024 models and believe the bed cover is defective and they would mail me another one. I was sent some tracking info and they immediately closed my ticket again without knowing if the problem is solved. I will update again when it gets here.

I had this same issue in 2024 with my 5' bed as well. They never did anything.
