Side step bolt size?

My truck did not come with bolts in the 16 side step holes. I purchased M8 as Google wisdom advised and they are too small in diameter. I will probably just hit up the hardware store and find the right size but figured I would post here in case anyone knew off hand and has recently added these bolts. Thanks!

That is wild...I wonder if my M8 bolts are not M8 because they do not fit! And....I am a moron. I was looking at the holes in the frame. A closer look at your picture made me realize these holes are in a different location and they do contain bolts already...yikes, my bad. Thank you!

M8 does have fine and corse thread patterns. Likely an M8x1.25.
