Ok, yup, definitely only coming from front left speaker.

Exactly - The volume on the HU will apply to Siri while Siri is engaged.

Left/front only - That appears to be OEM forced. Using a wired CarPlay AI adaptor overrides the OEM system but the boot times are brutal

I have a 25 Tacoma and suffer with this same issue, I assumed it was just a bad decision by Toyota across the board to not lower the volume of whatever is playing whenever Siri is speaking but recently purchased a 25 RAV4 Limited for the wife and it does exactly that. Whenever listening to music or anything else in her car and you activate Siri it DRASTICALLY lowers the volume of the audio that is playing and makes Siri prominent and easy to hear until she is done speaking and then increases the volume back to the previous value. Clearly Toyota is aware that this is a good practice and simply did not do it in these Tacomas.

What’s also odd is it seems to work as expected when listening to a podcast through CarPlay…..podcast pauses.

It’s not just Tacomas. My daughter’s 2025 Land Cruiser exhibits the same behaviors we’re all experiencing with our trucks.
