I'll start off by saying i had a 2018 Ford F-150 and the Ford App worked FLAWLESSLY. I had my F-150 for 7 years and NEVER once did I have a problem with the functionality of the Ford app.

Fast forward to 2025 and my Tacoma limited hybrid. Trying to start my truck with the Toyota App is extremely hit or miss. I live in a city and primarily drive in the city which has 5G+ coverage.
-Sometimes it will start
-Sometimes it will say failed connection and not start
-Sometimes it will say failed connection and start when I don't think it has started
-And sometimes the progress bar doesn't finish and I have no idea if it started or not

The app feels VERY buggy. I don't pay for the APP because the first year is free. If it continues to operate as it does. There is no way in hell I would even think about subscribing/paying for this app. Pretty disappointing .

May be other issues. App works great always. So far at least. Fob or app work great. Try uninstalling the app, restarting your phone, then reinstalling the app.

I have been reading stories like this, but mine works great for both me and my wife. Once the 1st trial year expired (2 weeks ago), I deleted and then re-installed the app on both of our phones while I was at my dealership.

Try installing the Lexus app , it’s the same app as the Toyota version but less buggy.
I’ve deleted the Toyota app a few months ago and have been using the Lexus version for my 2024 off road without any issues.

My complaint is the 10 minute runtime is not adequate in serious cold weather. When it is ranging from 10 to 20 below zero, 10 minutes just doesn’t get it. You can only restart it one more time for a total of 20 minutes.

It seems like it wouldn’t take much of a software upgrade to allow you to customize it to whatever time you want. But unfortunately, with the Toyota app, you get 10 minutes with no other choice.

Do you still have the Toyota financial account access on the Lexus app?

The app is absolutely ridiculous. Starting with lock lock hold is even more ridiculous. Why is it that GM/Ford/Dodge allows effortless starting with the key fob, and decent range at that? I remember with my GM truck you can press the start button a second time within the first 10 minutes runtime, and it'll add another 10 minutes!!

I love being able to start the truck remotely for the first year. But if toyota thinks i'm going to pay fifteen dollars a month to be able to do it, they're high.
I'm surprised somebody hasn't figured out a way to hack the system and get it for free.
I'm willing to pay for that update.

Other than the Lexus logo, I don't see a difference between the apps. Financial, vehicle health is all available

I've deleted the Toyota app a few months ago.

Part of the $15 goes to the cellular company to pay for your car to have cellular connection. Connected services require cellular data so if you are parked in a crappy cell spot or dead zone it will not work well or at all.
