Just saw this video from the "Taco Garage" testing 35x11.5R17 tires on stock wheels and suspension. It looks like Toyota engineers knew what they were doing with the wheel well and the offset, as they were able to take it off road with no rubbing (that they could hear / see) - crash plate intact. While the clearance is limited, and 34s may be a better fit accounting for mud / debris, it is interesting just how much tire you can get away with on the stock / proper offset. I don't know if they have the SDM optioned, however I assume that the bump stops are the hard limit anyhow and having it flex easier won't change the clearances too much.

I just had another thought; it is interesting how the Trailhunter / TRD Pro wheels have an offset closer to +20 (for purely aesthetic reasons, I believe), which means they cannot fit 35s on the factory wheel without rubbing while turning.... so when it comes to off road equipment technically the lower trim TRD OR has the better wheels for bigger tires. Interesting choice from Toyota....
