FWIW, I have no issue with the axle dump exhaust and fumes getting into the cab. No passengers have ever noticed either. My 3rd gen 4runner is a lot stinkier and that pipes out at the rear bumper.
My 5th gen 4Runner OR is terrible with the exhaust coming out rear you can’t even use the back window as the cabin fills with exhaust. I’d think this route on Tacoma would be better.

Yea I tried the axle dump twice, my ears did not like the tone. Was driving me mad. I'm just weird though because everyone seems to love it or hear no difference at all. But I also see a Carolina squat when people level a 4G by wheel well openings, so I think I'm just floating around in my own universe 🫪 lol

TRD performance twin pipe FTW for me!

That sixth looks like a nice piece though 👌
I have a stock TRD Sport and am considering the TRD twin pipe. I’ve ruled out the dump pipe because of exhaust concerns. How would you compare the sound of all 3, being stock exhaust, TRD dually, and axle dump?

Nothing to be concerned about with the axle dump, Toyota wouldn't have risked putting into production on the trailhunter or after market if there was even the slightest possibility of a lawsuit, but:

Stock: near silent

Twin pipe: slightly louder than stock, nice grumble at start up, noticeable with the window down and open throttle, quieter once warm, deletes large resonator at rear adds smaller resonator in place.

Axle dump: Just obnoxious to me. Deletes the resonator from the stock pipe and dumps the sound closer to the cab. I really couldn't stand it. Reminded me of this little 90s hatchback civic with a muffler that I had in high school.

Is there any performance difference or mileage differences after having the axle dump vs stock exhaust?

And also, should be noted, I have seen very few reviews of folks who find the sound of the axle dump obnoxious like I do. Most people either hear no difference or like the sound. And @ $80 during a Toyota sale or $100 from Sxth it's super cheap and easy to try. Takes less than 10 min to install.

Performance, yes. Mileage no.

Performance meaning off road, not bashing that piece of crap exhaust around.
I was just down in OR and saw someone driving their 4G around with a mangled ass stock pipe lol

Definitely can’t find anything shipped to Canada for a reasonable price unfortunately and anything I seen made is Canada costs even more then buying from SXTH online with their $53 cdn shipping on top of $139 cdn price… and looking for the oem version I can’t seem to find it says discontinued. I’ll have to keep looking I definitely wanna get rid of the stupid oem exhaust tip once I get my truck. Thanks for the info!!

I'm right over the border if you're on the Washington side. Shoot me a DM if I can help. OEM comes out to $78.59 USD delivered.

I happened to find this one available as well from ATH Fab, I contacted them and they will ship to me for $24 USD which isn’t terrible since everything costs a fortune once it comes north of the US border. Maybe this will help any fellow Canadians looking for something similar.
