So, I uninstalled my AWE catback because the dang thing was just too loud - it sounded awesome, but for a "no-drone" exhaust, it was pretty loud on the highway and just doesn't fit the character of the truck. It needs to be about 50% quieter. So, as opposed to cutting it up and adding another muffler, I figured I'd sell it to someone that wants it and cut my losses. (still for sale BTW)

So I put the stock exhaust back on, and man - it sucks. Sounds like a hair dryer and the exhaust tip is just AWFUL. I have no idea why Toyota made it hang down so far back but it terrible. So I ordered the @SXTH Element axle dump.

Honestly, it's not near as loud as I thought. After seeing some people complain about the axle dump exhaust being too loud (AKA "riced out civic" sounding), I was expecting more. But honestly it is still super quiet. I don't hear any drone, just a lower frequency engine note that actually sounds pretty good - I just wish it was like 20% louder. It's maybe 5% louder than stock, but has a better tone to it. 80% quieter than the AWE exhaust (That thing was freakin LOUD).

I don't notice any sort of fumes in the cab, likely because this truck was engineered to have an axle dump (trailhunter comes with it stock).

If you're looking to get rid of that ugly ass stock tailpipe, this is a worthy addition. Not loud at all if you are worried.

Agree, I just installed the Cobb axle dump earlier this week. Reason I installed was the eye sore of a OE tailpipe no more reason than that. I would have been okay with it if it was a smaller diameter coming out, but making it larger than a diesel tailpipe - why? axle dump was cheaper than trying to hide the hideous tailpipe with an OE finisher.

as for sound, I’m not crazy about it, it is louder, but it’s not crazy, and doesn’t drone as you said, but would prefer it to honestly be quieter.

I’m much happier with how it looks over that ugly tailpipe Toyota put on from the factory. Problem solved!

I think if I had an automatic I'd be down with it being quieter, but for some reason I can drive my manual much more smoothly when I can actually hear the engine. Not sure if it is a placebo or if it actually helps!

I'm one of those guys who found the axle dump obnoxious and I'm half deaf. I went with the TRD twin tail pipe and even that every now and then annoys me, especially when I had the camper on.

Glad it worked out for you and you're enjoying it !

Your continued struggles with the exhaust is what had me worried! I was expecting it to be really loud after reading your experience but compared to the AWE it’s essentially silent.

That's part of the reason I'm waiting for thr Banks system. I figure everyone complains about their intake being too quiet, but it flows better. Im hoping the exhaust will be the same.

Yeah, they are taking forever on that exhaust. I really want that turbo inlet pipe to hopefully liven up my Banks intake a little bit, but that’s not out either! Wish I would have stuck with my SXTH intake.

I've now got the Toyota axle dump that's standard with the TH trim, and there's not really any sound difference from the ugly-ass stock length. And now I don't have to worry about bashing the exhaust on anything when backing up off-road.

I don't understand how people think there's no sound diffence. i am stoked for you guys who can't hear it, but even switching out from the TRD twin pipe back to stock tonight I was like "ahhhh. Finally. Peace." 😂
Do you guys have those fake engine noises ? Or is there sound cancelling in some of the ORs that might keep people from hearing what I hear in an SR5?

Dude I don’t know man 😂 it sounds mouse quiet even with the intake and axle dump to me! Maybe I am just used to loud cars. Definitely way quieter than the Mustang!
