Hey all, I have this posted in another thread, but I thought I'd make it more easily accessible for anyone looking.

I have a TRD Offroad hybrid and was looking at the TRD center pipe and rear pipe assemblies. I couldn't find an answer to the differences in the midpipe, so just decided to buy and find out.

To be clear, from my research, the "TRD mid-pipe" (PT226-35240) is actually different in part number from a TRD Pro as well. I actually took a VIN from one and confirmed with Toyota.

Anyway, here are the pics comparing my stock one from a TRD Offroad hybrid to the TRD one. They look identical on the outside, but inside is a different story.

Thanks for sharing! I've been wondering about this ever since I bought the TRD tailpipe, but I skipped the TRD mid-pipe since my dealer couldn't tell me if there was any difference. Can you hear a difference in the exhaust tone with the TRD mid-pipe? There was a small change in tone with the TRD tailpipe.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the pro exhaust but after 3 months of waiting I gave up. So I decided to go with the AWE exhaust with black tips and I have zero regrets. My hybrid sounds sweet now. Definitely recommend

I didn't install yet, but hopefully this weekend if the weather holds out. I'll come back with the verdict. I would hope a little deeper than stock with no drone.

I had a Stillen on before, but could not stand the drone on the highway. Everything else I like about it. I really wanted to do the Magnaflow Overland, but it didn't fit the hybrid and they gave no answer on if they would make one on the hybrid. I think for now, this TRD is my best option until the trucks been around a bit longer for companies to play with.

Are there any differences in weight or piping I.D.? The TRD trail pipe appears to be more of a hi-flow design. Also interesting that the dealer part sites list the black or chrome tip exhaust as a requirement, but no mention of the TH axle dump. Curious to hear the sound effect.

Hi. I was in the same boat and I’m still
Waiting. I’ve seen many vids on YouTube on the install and sound clips and it does sound great. My only real concern is how it actually sounds in the cabin. I’ve had my fair shares of aftermarket exhaust in the past and most had the annoying drone at highway speeds. I know the awe 180 technology is supposed to to eliminate the drone but as someone who has installed it on your truck can you also confirm that there is zero drone in the cabin both and high and low RPMs? Thanks.

Trd off-road exhaust sound is non existent… it’s just silent. The pro sound just slightly louder…
What kind of sound are you looking for?

Zero drone and zero dash lights. The build quality of AWE is impressive. It’s got a deep sound but when I’m cruising around on the highway I cannot hear the exhaust when the engine is running

Not really looking, just curious if this TRD trail pipe is actually a hi-flow design and how it may affect sound with the axle dump versus the chrome/black tip performance exhaust. Definitely more interested if there is a weight savings and flow improvement.
