How do you like Onx
It's my favorite so far. I've used onX, Gaia, TrailsOffroad, and Avenza (a local off-road park has their offline maps on this one).

I've kept my subscriptions to onX and TrailsOffroad. I like Gaia visually, but found it cumbersome to navigate / edit on a mobile device - tried on both my iPhone and iPad mini. The most success I had with Gaia was planning and making paths on the web and sending the files to my device.

onX is my favorite for on-trail use and they just added navigation TO the trails to the App. Previously, nav only worked when you were at the trail. It's also the best in CarPlay, in my humble opinion. Plus, the host monthty webinars on how to actually use and make the most of the app.

TrailsOffroad is my go-to for the most info about a trail. Lots of quality user reviews and notes about actual difficulty/technical nature of the trails.

@Bronze Oxide , @OldOre - seeing strong Texas representation here. I think a Hidden Falls and/or Merus meet-up needs to happen!
I did HF not too long ago. It’s fun but kinda a once a year place for me. I always scratch up the truck doing the same things over again. So I’m out with HF. BUT there is another off road park more towards Bandera. I’d like to check that out some time.

Thank you for the reply! I've been looking at Onx

Damn, I’m jealous! I’m from the San Antonio area and am slowly planning my BBNP trip! I’ll definitely reserve the mountain!

Definitely put Christmas Mtn., Black Gap, and Old Ore on your trail list. There's a pretty amazing trail in the State Park as well, Fresno Trail. Goes down into what seems like a dried-up river bed and is really beautiful.

When are you going? I'm going in November and then again in February. What's on your agenda? In November I'll spend most of my time in the state park and in February will be mostly national park. Nothing like the fiirst trip to BBNP! I think you'll love it!
