Hi. everyone. I have been struggling with the choice between buying the Part Time 4wd Tacoma Limited VS. the Full Time 4wd Hybrid Limited. I live on the Oregon Coast and often travel in slick areas during the spring/winter. I have had many trucks and SUV's with an automatic 4wd option that seem to work well in those conditions. The only reason I would want the hybrid is the full time 4wd. Does it really matter which one I get or am I overthinking it? For the cost of either I want to make sure I make the right choice. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

You answered your own question. You had past vehicles with FT AWD and it works for you. FT AWD is one of the reasons I wanted the Max plus the extra power and torque it brings.

How do you like the FT 4WD on your max?

I also bought my Hybrid Limited for the full-time AWD. While the roads here haven’t been slick enough to actually see it in use yet, I can report that all the other improvements over the non-hybrid make this one my most-favorite truck yet. The hybrid’s acceleration curve is nothing short of astounding for a pickup truck.

Oh, and we ran a chainsaw off the power plant while camping a few weeks ago. I’m still looking forward to making camp tater tots in the air fryer at our next event, lol.

Hybrid hands down! Not only do you get the benefits of AWD, the iForceMAX is effortlessly quick, smooth instant power. Love ours!!

If you don't know which one to get and don't plan to change how much off roading you do, the fulltime 4wd might suit you better. Especially if you are already used to it. Guys that want part time 4wd know their reasons and some are religious about it.

Sometimes i envied my wife's subaru awd vs my parttime 4wd in the Ram. Now i have the limited hybrid. No more envy - lol.

Love this truck

What'd you decide on?

I did hybrid for F4WD, locking gas cap, and power/torque curve smoothing.
Storage is missed but I compromised with two 20" weather tight tool boxes that fit under my retractable cover canister.

I went with the standard limited with every option I could get. This is a daily driver. Even thinking about taking this thing off road would cause me great concern. I don't even want rain on it. I'm in middle Tennessee. I didn't need full-time four-wheel-drive. (but I wanted four-wheel-drive available) I didn't want the complexity of the hybrid, even though I trust Toyota. I didn't need the additional power. The standard limited has more than enough power for my type of use. It just depends on your intended use and location in my opinion.

I just bought a 2025 hybrid limited. I live in Canada and wanted the All wheel drive. The all wheel drive is only available on the Hybrid Limited in Canada. I haven’t driven it much yet because I want to get all my mods done. In the process of deleting ALL the Chrome. A couple of the things I love about it so far is I REALLY like the HUD as well as the ride in comfort mode is VERY nice. Oh and I’m a huge fan of the Wind Chill Pearl Colour.

I absolutely love my 2024 Blue Crush Limited, and I think I would love it even more with full time 4wd. There weren't many available when I got mine, and I've had traditional 4wd before, so I'm comfortable with it, but the awd in my previous RAV4 was pretty sweet, and would be great in the Taco. That said, the Limited is so comfortable, quiet, functional, and capable, it's really great.
