What is TRD part PT226-35240?

I can't seem to find a good answer to this? I am looking at getting the TRD muffler back pipe section(PT226-35241-02) which from what I can tell in this forum, will directly swap onto my TRD offroad hybrid. What I can't figure out is what the heck the TRD center pipe(PT226-35240) actually is?

When I google it, the pictures always just seem to show the exhaust tip, even on Toyota part sites. Is this the section of exhaust that includes the main muffler, and if so, is it any different than the main muffler that comes on the TRD trucks?

Any help would be appreciated. This has been very frustrating research.

you dont need it. I would just buy the axle back dual tip. That is all I bought and it sounds much better. I have watched a YouTube video where there is a walkthrough of the under side of a TRD Pro and there is no visible difference between the center pipe/muffler to what I have on my TRD off road hybrid.

The weirdest part was I took a VIN from a TRD Pro listed for sale online to Toyota dealership, and the part number they gave me for the center pipe muffler was different that the TRD part mentioned as well. Makes no sense.

So for anyone interested, I just bought the TRD muffler for comparison purposes. They allowed me to return it if I decided not to use it. It is identical the stock center pipe assembly, however on the inside, it is infact a bit different. Haven't had the chance yet to install though.

My truck came with the TRD ‘cat back’ as a factory installed option, and I’ve wondered if the center pipe/muffler is in fact any different or not….

It sounds okay, but I wouldn’t say no to additional deep volume without drone… seriously considering AWE or maybe Dirty Deeds. Or keeping my money. Ha.
