Winter question for Tacoma owners: what’s one thing you didn’t think you’d need until snow hit?

Winter really changes the way you interact with your Tacoma.
Cold mornings, icy driveways, thick boots, hands full of gear… suddenly getting in and out isn’t as effortless as it used to be.

That’s where the EZ Side Steps for the 2024–2026 Tacoma started to make sense for me.

What changed in real life:
  • A solid, non-wobbly step when the ground is icy
  • Easier access when loading roof gear or tossing bags into the cab
  • Family and passengers don’t have to “jump” up anymore
  • No drilling, so it didn’t turn into a weekend-long project
It doesn’t make the truck look aggressive or flashy. It just quietly makes winter days smoother.

As the new year starts, I’m realizing the best upgrades aren’t always about looks or horsepower, they’re about removing friction from everyday use.

What’s one practical mod you added that ended up being more useful than expected?

I also am shocked this thing has heated seats, steering wheel, and no heated mirrors.

Steps/sliders are crucial. Getting in and out is way easier (5'10").

Seems strange that your hybrid doesn't when my basic OR has them. And I lose a lot of goodies with the manual trans.

My Trailhunter has heated side mirrors. They turn on when the rear defroster is turned on. Same as our Integra and Outback.

Hmmm. Well I can certainly check, but my other trucks all have "Heated mirrors" printed on the mirrors. No heat going to the mirrors with defrost on either.

If it were easy to do (probably isn’t) you could pull off the mirror glass to see if there’s a heating element on back.
When I replaced the Integra’s heated mirror glass with Sumo blue heated mirror glass, it was plug n play. But getting the mirrors clipped back into the white plastic balls that controls the remote up/down/sideway adjustments was a major PITA.

Wish I would've installed heated seats. Now it's too cold and rainy. Can't be bothered to go out there and do a project 😂

I'd give you mine if I could. I'm in midwest cold, but I've only tried the heated seats once and was like meh! The truck heater warms up quick enough for me. And the heated steering wheel? Double meh!

Cracks me up since I’m a thin-skinned Californian who used the steering wheel heater and seat heater on an outing tonight. Temp was 48° F. Would have bought a different vehicle to get those creature comforts.
