Hi!

So, I have the Off Road with the pre-wired aux switches, I have the harnesses in hand from Toyota. I understand that I need to use the 10A(green) wire for the Spot-light portion of the light and use the 5A(white) wire for the Amber DRL's. I understand the the ground wire on the harness is black/white. What i don't understand is how to use the provided harness that came with my light kit. I have provided a couple of pictures here.
My first thought is to get a few male spade connectors and attach them to the Toyota harness and then attach those to the rough country female spade connectors that are attached to the switch. I now know the white wires supply the amber Dre’s and the blue wires control the white spot lights.

If anyone can definitively tell me what the amperage is of each light and how to do this, I would be very appreciative.

thanks!
Dave

UPDATE: I figure it all out. For the Rough Country Led light kit wiring, you have to use two switches one for each lighting feature. Unfortunately, that means you use 2 switches out of the three. The total amperage for the rough country LED’s is 4. 3 Amps for the white lights and 1 Amp for the amber. Even though it works, in my head it feels like a waste of a switch.
I wired it in the following manor.
The Toyota 5 Amp white wire is attached to the 2 white rough country harness wires, the Toyota 10 amp green wire is attached to the 2 blue rough country wires, & The white/black Toyota ground wire is connected to the two black rough country ground wires.. I then heat shrink/solder melted all those wires then wrapped with electrical tape. I plugged the harness in and it worked perfectly. I will post final pics but I feel good that I was able to do this with minimal experience with wiring. The biggest hurdle was my own anxiety of messing up my truck!

I am only waiting on a bracket for an antenna to put the lights on the truck.

Dave, I wired my lights directly to the supplied aux harness and am using the factory switches. I have ditch lights and a grill light bar, both with DRLs. By doing so, I didn't have to snake any wires into the cabin from the engine bay. I don't know how to wire the switch you have in your hand. You might contact the vendor you bought the lights from to confirm the amperage for the DRLs and the spots. Then you could wire to the factory harness by cutting out the vendor's supplied switch. Just a thought.

Hello, Chance3, apologizing in advance because this is off-topic but your grill light bar caught my eye. I have been hoping to find lights that can mount approximately where yours are, above the factory fog lights. I want LONG range driving lights which are sometimes called pencil beams etc. Ideally they would mount on brackets that attach behind the grille or bumper if any new drilling is required. They must not reduce cooling efficiency or interfere with the safety systems. At first I thought that one of those combo brackets that bolt into the front license plate for both lights and plate would be good, but seems rickety and blocks a sensor, I think.

I live in a rural area where I could use these, in the middle of nowhere where there are no oncoming drivers, in combination with stock high beams to have a better chance of avoiding deer and feral hogs and javelinas. I would wire them with a specific switch wired so that I could have high beams or high beams plus driving light but not low beams or off plus driving light. Do you know if such lights are available in your setup and if your mounting method meets my desires? If not, maybe I'll start a new thread.

First, you need to decide what switch you want to use. Either the OEM Aux Switches or the lightbar supplier switch. Unless you're wanting to use an OEM Aux switch as a toggle switch for your toggle switch, which is stupid.

Hey Texas Bob,

Check out the video below, the install is exactly as shown and was super easy, no drilling required. Mike at M&R is pretty good with questions, I would contact him through his site and ask if there is a way you could tap into the high beams to activate the light bars. Mine are just wired to the 15amp AUX switch on my truck, so I have to manually turn them on and off. I wouldn't want to use them on the road with other drivers around as they are fairly bright. I intend to use them off-road.
