Hi!
So, I have the Off Road with the pre-wired aux switches, I have the harnesses in hand from Toyota. I understand that I need to use the 10A(green) wire for the Spot-light portion of the light and use the 5A(white) wire for the Amber DRL's. I understand the the ground wire on the harness is black/white. What i don't understand is how to use the provided harness that came with my light kit. I have provided a couple of pictures here.
My first thought is to get a few male spade connectors and attach them to the Toyota harness and then attach those to the rough country female spade connectors that are attached to the switch. I now know the white wires supply the amber Dre’s and the blue wires control the white spot lights.
If anyone can definitively tell me what the amperage is of each light and how to do this, I would be very appreciative.
thanks!
Dave
UPDATE: I figure it all out. For the Rough Country Led light kit wiring, you have to use two switches one for each lighting feature. Unfortunately, that means you use 2 switches out of the three. The total amperage for the rough country LED’s is 4. 3 Amps for the white lights and 1 Amp for the amber. Even though it works, in my head it feels like a waste of a switch.
I wired it in the following manor.
The Toyota 5 Amp white wire is attached to the 2 white rough country harness wires, the Toyota 10 amp green wire is attached to the 2 blue rough country wires, & The white/black Toyota ground wire is connected to the two black rough country ground wires.. I then heat shrink/solder melted all those wires then wrapped with electrical tape. I plugged the harness in and it worked perfectly. I will post final pics but I feel good that I was able to do this with minimal experience with wiring. The biggest hurdle was my own anxiety of messing up my truck!
I am only waiting on a bracket for an antenna to put the lights on the truck.
