Man I feel you on that.. went through some mud this past weekend and these tires just slide down the decent and was side sliding on a little side tilt. I have the atw3a whatever’s that come stock on the hybrid

I got stuck in the mud with the garbage Falken AT3/Wa stock tire. On Wednesday I was sawing firewood on BLM land and a 1/8” stick punctured my rear sidewall and ruined the tire. The Falken tires are only 2 ply poly sidewalls and puncture like paper.
That was it. Yesterday I bought 5 BFG KO3s and installed them. 275/70r18s fit no problem with no rubbing. Here’s a couple pics; The BFGs have way deeper tread. Toyota should be ashamed for equipping an off road truck with garbage Falken tires.

Hell yeah. I’ve been loving the kO3s. They’re not invincible, but they’re definitely a huge step up from the stock tires. Most manufacturers put cheaper tires on their new vehicles, so it’s not like Toyota is being extra shady. People see Falken or BFG on their factory tire sidewalls and may assume they’ve got better than they actually have, unfortunately. The manufacturer spec tires are a whole different game. The “actual” trail terrain T/A that you’d buy from a tire shop is different from the ones that came on your new truck, and given that folks seem to love their Falken Wildpeaks, I’d assume it’s the same with those as well.

That's great to hear! how's your MPG?

Yeah, it's really bad that they make tires like that. It can only hurt the dependability of your tire brand. Some people think that's the wild peak and walk away, never buying a wild peak, even though it's not really the real wild peak.

MPG dropped by 2.5. Not bad, as I expected that since each tire is 20lbs heavier. The performance and peace of mind is well worth it. I already carry 12 gallons of extra fuel on off road fun to compensate for the small fuel tank.

I went with rims that are 5 pounds lighter than stock and tires that are 5.5 pounds heavier than stock rice paper sidewall tires. Hope it’s a wash. I’ll let you know.
