Took my Tacoma in to the dealership for a pre-roadtrip maintenance and checkup. Asked for new wipers. Later that day, it’s raining and the left blade is tripping over the right blade. Not every time but worse on intermittent and unusable on high. Either one of the blades is off center, the arm is bent, or one of the blades is too long. This never happened with the original set. Going back first thing in the morning to get it straightened out. Anybody else have this happen? On high it’s like they’re going to destroy each other. Glad it wasn’t raining that hard. How close do your wipers sit are rest? These are just touching. Oh and $75 too…

Yeah, I know better than to get them from the stealership… I showed them the price I was offered on their own &$@# app. $45, but the swervice manager is oh well they’re like premium wipers… ugh. So well anyway the left wiper was the wrong length. I measured 26” and that’s why it was tripping on the right one when it moved from resting position. What a racket! Noise and $$$. Something tells me they don’t want me to review this visit. I got the initial maintenance package which it bumper to bumper for 2yrs/25,000mi so I threw them a bone with the wipers. If’n I’d known it was going to cost $75, this would not have happened. Lesson learned.

Agree with maxx. But how it likely happened….the tech pulled the entire wiper arms off to replace just the blades and didn’t seat them correctly when he or she reinstalled them. There are typically tiny lines to help properly align the blade assemblies.

You should have just asked for replacement rubber inserts. The factory blades normally would not need to be changed, just the rubber part. It would have been about $15 for both sides but they wanted to sell you the more expensive option I guess.

^^^ This ^^^ On my 2003 4Runner for the rear wiper I replaced the entire blade a couple of times over the years and after that it never worked right. Went back to Toyota and bought the full OEM blade and it worked perfectly. When that wore out I replaced just the rubber insert with OEM (about $7) and it worked perfectly again. For my vehicles I'm never going back to aftermarket - Just not worth the potential hassle.

Lot better aftermarket choices. I wont go to the dealer for anything! Ripoff. Unless there is no other choice. They make most of there money off service & parts!
