Small RPM bounce while cruising.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing that you guys are noticing, but I've noticed that my truck is using throttle to rev-match when shifting. If you listen closely, you will hear the turbo spooling up in short bursts.

Honestly, this thing shifts like my old VW TDI w/ DSG (dual clutch) transmission! I know the Tacoma is not DSG, but it doesn't behave like the automatic transmissions I'm used to.

I am quite tempted to get the OTT tune. It is supposed to improve shift performance, as well as add a few HPs. I'm not sure what the tune does different, but it probably keeps the engine RPM higher?

Took it to the dealer and that is what they diagnosed (bad torque converter). Trans and torque converter are on order.

How did you get them to troubleshoot and root cause? Did you get a lot of push back? Or what allowed them to replicate and confirm?

I think I got lucky. They happen to have another Tacoma truck that was in that week for the same reason. Showed them a video I had. They took it back for a couple hours or three. Told me that my trans oil was a little dirty. That my truck was not doing the hesitation as bad as the other truck that was in, but they did notice that it was bouncing/hesitating in the lower rpms while driving it.
