  1. MQ's 2025 TRD Pro Ice Cap/Cockpit Red Build

Thanks for your review. You experience is essentially the same as mine. I love my truck and appreciate it more every time I (carefully) get behind the wheel. Your sliders will make that a lot easier and like you, I plan to keep mine for a good, long time.
  2. Anyone driven Tacoma & 4Runner TRD PRO back to back?

Basically I think it all comes down to expectations. I have been driving off road trucks for years and for me the Pro is extremely comfortable, and surprisingly civilized. The 4Runner will probably be a bit more plush, but like the Taco it is still a truck and rides like one. Checking to see...
  3. Defects of Tacooma that everyone should look at

Here are a couple of pictures of the bottom side of the bed rail cap @rybern . The front picture shows that there is just one push in clip there, so if the cap warps there is nothing to keep it level. The other picture shows a section further back and there are good many toward the rear. I think...
  4. My current MPG in my 25’ TrailHunter

Hybrid 4th gens don't get close to the EPA mileage, but 8.2 mpg is nowhere near normal. I see as low as 15 on a short urban drive with a cold engine and as high as 19-20 at moderate freeway speeds. If your TH stays at 8 mpg it is time to visit your dealer, because something is wrong.
  5. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

Definitely your best answer unless/until Toyota does something to fix this. I have owned several sports cars that sat idle in Ohio winters and I replaced batteries every few years until I started using a maintainer. CTEK is one popular brand that a lot of people use which I can recommend.
  6. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

A battery maintainer is what you need, which is kind of a smart trickle charger which is better for your battery. I have a couple but I have only ever needed them on toy cars that sat for a month or more at times. They will make sure that your truck is ready to go when you return home. IMO a...
  7. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

I have seen multiple reports from people with dead 12V batteries in 4th gen hybrids. It seems like Toyota is aware, because they added an alternator to some of the 2025 models. I can see them missing that on 2024's because Toyota thought they had a sound design. What I don't understand is them...
  8. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

I've never had the cover under my rear set off, so I didn't realize it had an AGM battery. I agree that for @Tom Sellick's battery to quickly go down to that level there must be an unusually large draw. I hope his dealer figures that out and shares what they find. Whenever I replace my 12V I...
  9. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

I think the only good way to jump a dead hybrid is with a jump pack. That gets you around the problems you mentioned and that @Lennyz1 pointed out. Hopefully roadside assistance brings one along.
  10. Defects of Tacooma that everyone should look at

The design is the same, and the only difference is that the replacement is not warped. I do have some pictures of the bottom of the cap and I will post them soon.
  11. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

The question is more about why some of the 2025 Tacoma hybrids have alternators, and why 2024 models and some 2025 models don't have them. Toyota should share why they made the change and how those of us without alternators are affected. If it is meant to make them better able to be driven as...
  12. Defects of Tacooma that everyone should look at

My bed rail cap finally came in and I installed it myself. I don't think that double sided tape was ever intended to retain the cap, just to align it in the front. There are many plugs fastening it to the bed but only a few in the front, and mine was too warped to stay in place. The new one fits...
  13. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

You lose all the functions as long as you are logged out, but once you log in again everything works. You just can't leave your phone logged into the Toyota app long term if you want the battery to survive. She now carries a jump pack in her car and knows how to open the driver's door when the...
  14. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

I have not had any battery problems with my truck and it sits for a good while, but your idea reminded me of something else. My wife has a Lexus EV and it has run its 12V down a couple of times. The dealer told us it was the app that was causing that and that Toyota does not yet have a...
  15. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

That is what I think too. To redesign the electrical system to add an alternator would be expensive from a design/hardware/software perspective, not counting all the testing and engineering signoffs required before putting the change into production. I don't think they would have done that just...
  16. TRD Pro Impossible to Align Properly...

Yep, I would. If it can't be adjusted to be in spec then it was built wrong and Toyota needs to step up and fix it IMO.
  17. Premium Fuel or Regular

Good point. My mpg seems to change quite a bit almost every time I drive my truck, so it would be tough to figure out if premium made a difference for me.
  18. TRD Pro Impossible to Align Properly...

If the camber is not correct on a TH's front wheels, why can't it just be adjusted to be in spec?
  19. Part number for piece on top of Tacoma TRD PRO tailgate?

Update: I looked really closely at my tailgate this morning and the black part might be a wrap. The detail shop stopped the PPF just below it and I can feel an edge along the bottom of the black part with my fingernail. Unless it is from where they blended the two paint colors, it could be a...
  20. Part number for piece on top of Tacoma TRD PRO tailgate?

That would be perfect and I bet it comes along eventually.
